Are You A Selfish or Selfless Person?

It all depends on what it is. I do things for others and I also have things that I keep for myself. It depends on the circumstances. I for instance would not sell my house or give away all my possessions to help a poor person. I will donate some money though. Oh and I hate these posts, that are determined to show what a nice person I am or the nasty character I am. You see, if I were to say I am selfish, then you would not like me, but if I said I was selfless, then being a human that would be a lie. So if I am selfless one time, and selfish another time, then it would honest.

Hi Rockvixen I'm very giving and always there for anyone who needs..just ask my 5 children..I don't let it bother me in fact i do the same with my customers when they are low in cash and need something..I say.."how much money do you have" or swap something they are wearing for the item..they all know I'm a giver and never think twice about it!

I would say I am a bit of both and really that is the BEST way to be!! As noble as it is to be giving and selfless, you still need to look out for #1 and that is the most important thing. I have learned that the hard way, if you are too giving you will be walked on! A healthy dose of selfishness is necessary for your own survival.

Yeah its almost impossible to be just one or the other. Unless you are a complete jerk. We all want things at some point in our lives just to have it even if we could live without it. But I find thats ok as long as you would also give that item up if it would help someone else.

Well I can admit that I can be a very selfish person. I am also quite selfless as well. I love to help people, even the people I don't necessarily get along with. I would do anything for my friends and my family, and especially my boyfriend as well. I'd do anything for my dog too, she's like my baby and couldn't live without her, even if she can be VERY annoying sometimes. I agree with you. It isn't natural for someone to be selfless their whole life without having a little bit of selfishness in there as well. We all want things, and we all want to be noticed. There's nothing wrong with being a little selfish, but to be completely selfish, and completely unselfless is wrong.

you are right, - one should always some what selfish otherwise in this world , world of speed, you will not be able to match others or withstand.

Well, I FEEL selfish....I WANT to be selfish. Sometimes. But, in all actuality, I am an extremely selfless and giving person. I almost always pass up things that I would like to have so that I will be able to take care of other peoples wants and needs first. I am a mother of a little girl, and her needs are always number one. My sweet, loving, fiance comes next. Then me. So, to answer the question.....selfless with a selfish persons mind...

I have to admit there are times I am selfish. Whwn my friends need me though or my family I have always tried to be there for them to help them out in a time of need.

Of course you are right we all do tend to be selfish,it is a problem that we all have to work on..Sometimes we have to make descions as to if we should put ourselves on the back burner to help others....If i am with someone and there is only one item i will share it if it is food,that way we both have what we want,I could never eat something knowing that someone else was wanting it,so sharing is the only way...I have given up things that i really liked to my family members if they wanted it really badly...I start to think "I really do not need this,and they want it so bad,i will end up giving it up.....I have also been to the stores where they are having a huge sale,and i see women being so mean to each other snatching and grabbing? I will not do that,i like things but never would i get into a fight to get it away from someone else...If i know a friend that has NO money i will help them if i have a few bucks to help them out.....I am somewhat selfish at times and when i find myself being this way ,i have to give myself a good talking to....I do not like it when people are selfish and i try HARD not to be a hoggy person.....

Uhmmm... well, both I guess! There are somethings that I am being selfish to others like choosing not to understand other people but there are times I am very giving person. I love sharing or helping other people especially when they are in need. There are just times that I am so so bad that I get to be so selfish.. bad bad me! Thanks!

well no one can be 100% selfless......nor can be 100% selfish....i am selfless when it comes to dealing with my loved ones my friends but not always...sometimes i agree i act in a selfish way.....but i think thats human and no one can be selfless each and everytime........

i think i am not fully selfless and selfish person.. what i have learnt till now is that anybody cant be selfless all the times.. sometimes one needs to be selfish or else he would be just tored by the people... thats why i am always selfless for my family,friends and persons close to me.... i dont think that a selfless person can survive in this world.. there is no place for selfless people in this world...
