Too many books for your own good?

If you're like me, you can't walk into a bookstore without purchasing a book. I always say that I'm just going to browse, but something always catches my eye. Are you the same way? I bought a huge bookshelf about a year ago to replace my smaller one, and I'm already running out of room on the new one!

I'm the same way. I really love books and have much more than I need, and I have to find or make another bookshelf soon. There's a used bookstore near me that sells books for very cheap, which doesn't help, ha. Fortunately they take trade-ins, but then I end up spending all that on more books. At least I get a lot of enjoyment out of them!

Ah, that's too bad (not a big fan of bodice-rippers either). The one near me gets me in all kinds of trouble because they have a nice varied selection.

I am always kidding myself that i'll just look around and buy nothing. Rong! I always buy a book or two and return happy home.
The worst thing and the greater temptation is when i get my pay check because about 2 months ago i left half of it in a book store! I try to keep away from them...they are evil =)) .
Just kidding !
I buy a book or two every two/three weeks. I enjoy buying and reading.

Right now I'm unemployed, and going into a bookstore is dangerous! I'll see a book and think, "I've wanted to read that for ages!" I know how it is, though. When I got my paycheck and I went to a bookstore, I was doomed from the second I entered the doors.

Most of the time I am that way. I love books and really can't get enough of them. I don't think its bad though since I always want a choice in what book I am going to be reading next. And how am I going to have choices if I don't have a large selection to choose from? :) lol

I make room. Somehow I always have enough room for them. Even if I have to box some up for a bit and only leave so many out to actually choose from.

Since I can't afford to buy books, or anything else, right now, and since I have 200 unread books at home I avoid bookstores like the plague. When I go through the mall I walk on the other side of the hall to avoid the bookstore. But our writing group meets at the library every two weeks and there are books for sale in the basement. It is hard not to look at them especially since purchase price is a donation of your choice. If I have time I will look, but most of the time I don't. If I see books by one of my favourite authors that I haven't read I can't help but buy it (for .25c), or if there is a nice new hardcover sitting there it is hard to walk by that if it something I want to read. I even kick myself when I take a book out at the library because I have so many books at home that I haven't read yet and probably won't EVER get read. It's sad being a book addict.

I have boxes of books that wont even fit on my bookshelves. Just can't bring myself to get rid of books that I may want to read again.
Last time I counted I had over 700 books, thought I would have a clear out and only managed to convince myself to sell 20 of them

I, too, am a bookworm. I love to read and just a few years ago I had so many books that my family and friends were complaining because they were tired of having to move all my books. I ended up, long story, losing almost all those books. I only have a few books right now. Most of my reading comes from libray books now.

I love books. Yes, I am constantly buying new books. I always say that I will not buy any new book anymore but like you say, something always catches my eyes. I also like to buy magazines and have many of them at home. I have given away some. Do you keep all the books that you have already read? Will you read them again? I keep my books as a collection. Sometimes I read them again.

I have worked in bookstores and it is way too tempting when you can buy books at a discount or for cost price. Since I left the book trade I can't afford to buy new books but I can spend hours looking through used books and I buy most of my books from charities which sell them for fundraising.

Yes, I have way too many books. I'm trying to just get books out of the library now because I have two full bookcases and numerous boxes full of books that I haven't read yet, but I can't resist the lure of new books. So I read a library book, read one of my books, read a library book...
But now I get free books to review from time to time, so I have to work them into my limited reading schedule. If I'm ever housebound for months, I am set for books.

I cannot walk into a bookstore and not get at least one. I love secondhand stores (ex: Goodwill, Talize)for books, especially when they have 50% off days. I also get a lot of them at WalMart & Zellers because they sell at the American pricing, & 25% off. I only go to Chapter's when I cant find an older book that I want & know that they have it there. I used to get the Chapters card, but now I just dont think it's worth it. I also buy a lot of my books at Costco & Sam's Club, & when my family goes into the States, I like to go to Target!
I have two small bookcases full, with books in front of other books, & then a BIG bookcase in my closet thats also full. My mom always gets mad at me, saying I'm never gonna read them all. But I say you can never have too many books! But then again she's also happy that I like reading now. So she doesnt really gripe about it.

In China, there is a adage: people just read books which borrowed from others. which means that, always, people buy a book but Never read it, but he/she like to read the book which he don't own.
How many of book in your huge bookshelf have been read carefully?
