Most of it is, in my opinion.
I've got cable and plenty of channels to choose from, but when I sit down and start flipping with the remote, I have a hard time finding anything I'd even care to watch.
I watch HGTV, some cooking shows on the Food Network, the various Law & Order programs, Monk and that's pretty much it anymore.

I hardly watch tv...i could live without it easily...the only reason i have it is so my hubby & my son can watch movies on demand - saves us a lot of money by not renting the movies & getting late fees and driving to the rental store...
there are a few shows i will watch - law & order, house, the occasional hgtv show - the office, and hubby recently started watching an hbo show in treatment that seems interesting but just not something i have gotten into as much.

I believe that a lot of what is on is exactly that - rubbish. There are so many things on that I won't allow my children to watch and yet we do find several things to watch too.
My kids learn a lot from the discovery channel and of course, being teen girls they love American Idol!

NO..I LOVE watching TV once in a while!
There are alot of new paranormal shows..plus I like Big Brother, Survivor and some of the other shows, like CSI and other forensic shows!
With all of the channels we have now..if you are not satisfied with one, then just look around and change the station to something other. Possibly the History Channel or PBS is better for you. But there's something for everyone these days!I even like to watch th Animal Planet channel sometimes, where there are AKC Kennel shows! Sometimes the family watch winter sports..amd the Olympics will be on soon and ..this summer! Or maybe news is more intresting to you..there is CNN, MSNBC, etc! There are Christain chanels, etc.. Maybe you are a fan of the older cartoons? How about Nickolodeon or Disney?
Try new things. There is a channel for everyone somewhere on cable. It isn't meant to be a substitute for real living? But for entertainment, surely there must be something for you!

Well not really! I think it's just much harder to find great stuff on it. I won't say that it is trash come to think of it we have CNN, Discovery Channel, Nat Geo, and even educational shows for children. Not to mention inspiring shows, like that of Oprah's. But then again we can't make the boob tube our baby sitter and just leave our children watching everything on tv. We have to filter our what we ought to watch and what are kids should watch.

it depends on where yer watching. network tv is pretty much crap. sensationalistic reality /game show programs where people feed off the either the misery of others, or spend the time tearing others down. and yes, its pretty sickening. i choose to skip over the network and ive found alot of cable networks have very good decent programs, be it comedy or drama. tnt, fx, tbs lineups are pretty good. in fact, in my oppinion, fx has some of the best programming around with their original series.
