myLot Guidelines

i read carefully the guidelines of myLot awhile ago and i felt ashamed with regards to all my discussions and comments that i found some/many of them are against of the myLot guidelines. For example: excessive use punctuation marks, capslock, postings referral links, posting jokes, and others. many of us did not find time to read the guidelines so i post the whole page of the guidelines so that we can examine thoroughly and to avoid committing mistakes: myLot discussion guidelines We encourage our members to use myLot as much as possible by taking advantage of all of our great member functionality. Like most things in your life, we have some guidelines here at myLot we would like all members to be familiar with: DO's * Please take any warnings you get from the myLot staff seriously. * Help us out and report trolls, flame wars, and troublemakers by sending an abuse report to myLot. * Help out when you can. The myLot staff tries to monitor the site constantly, but we also need your eyes and ears to catch problems when they arise and report abusive behavior. * Be sure to rate users’ discussions, responses, comments, and photos for the new myLot reputation system. The myLot reputation rating is decided by myLot users. * Make sure you search for existing topics before starting new discussions. * Please make sure you give your best effort to respond with quality responses. If you don’t know how to respond to a discussion, go on to the next one. Answers like “I don’t know” or “I don’t care” don’t help anyone and will be removed. * Make sure to post useful links in discussions when necessary to provide authoritative guidance or to refer to a third party article. * Please use myLot messages to chat back and forth with your myLot friends. Make plans for the weekend, schedule a time to meet for fun, or just talk about what happened today at work! If you would like to know more about a certain myLot member, request them as a friend. * Make sure you ask for clarifications on discussion topics or responses when necessary or help other users to get their point across if they are not able. We like to think of ourselves as one big happy family. * Feel free to contact us if you would like to advertise on myLot. * Post in English, unfortunately the staff at myLot is not bilingual. * Please let the myLot staff know if you are having any issues, by sending us a private message. * Feel free to express your happiness with the myLot community. We love hearing how much you like myLot. Now for the DON'Ts * Create more than one myLot account per person. Creating multiple accounts is grounds for immediate account cancellation and forfeiture of all earnings. * Share PayPal or moneybookers accounts. Please use only one PayPal or moneybookers account per myLot account. * Post comments in threads for the purpose of drawing attention to another thread on a different subject. * Make multiple posts on the same subject for the purpose of getting attention paid to your issue. * Post the same response to different discussions even if the discussions are related or similar. This type of activity will more than likely harm your reputation rating. * Post copyrighted articles or photos please link to them. DON’T post copyrighted photos at all. * Respond to a discussion until you've read all of the responses. * Post "Me Too!" messages; add something of substance to the conversation. * Start a new discussion unless you have something of substance to say. * Start discussions asking for one word answers like “Yes or No”. * Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings. * Start meaningless discussions or give meaningless responses to try and boost your rating. Discussions like “What’s your age” will be deleted as well as short responses like “ok” or “no”. * Post jokes, recipes, etc. as discussions. This is a form of abuse and all recipes and jokes will be deleted if they are started as a discussion. * Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. * Post any links promoting other affiliate programs or that do not pertain to the discussion. Posting the same link over and over or posting links that have no relevance to the discussion is not allowed. * Post discussions directed at one person such as “user1 what did you do today?” or “user2 where are you?” * Post discussions soliciting a response for a response for example “+” rating for a response. These are against our terms and will be deleted. * Post to “flame” other users! Being mean to others is just not fun. Anything derogatory that is directed at a myLot user is strictly prohibited. Just be nice and have fun! * Request donations, post charity requests, petitions for signatures, chain letters or letters relating to pyramid schemes, advertising or solicitations for funds, or mass mailings. * Post for commercial or advertising purposes, including classified ads in the discussion area. * Post anything that discloses your personal information or others' personal information. We do not disclose it to anyone for good reason. * Post similar or identical postings. Stealing posts from other users or posting the same thing over and over again will not help your myLot earnings. Multiple identical postings, even if legitimate, may be considered spam. * Post symbols or languages other than English unless you are asking how to translate a word or a phrase. * Start discussions on individual issues you are having with myLot. Please contact myLot via private messages and your issue will be addressed. * Post discussions, responses or comments criticizing members for bad/broken English or bad spelling. Everyone is welcome at myLot, we have users from all around the world and they are welcome regardless of their proficiency with the English Language. * Use all-caps or excessive punctuation. * Post anything that inaccurately explains the myLot earnings algorithm. Our myLot mathematicians have worked long and hard on our elaborate payment system and we wouldn’t want any of our users to make them feel inadequate by breaking their algorithm in minutes. did you remember what guidelines did you commit mistakes?

Thank you for bring the rules of MyLot to the forefront. It's easy to forget the finer points as you get involved in this community and other life stuffs. I believe the only point I have done incorrectly is thanking folks for replying to my discussion. I only did it that be polite and respectful to those that took the time to read and reply to my discussions and not to increase income or reputation. I guess, instead of making one thank you post per person replying, just wait until several have replied and do a one big thank you. At any rate, I'm just glad MyLot exists - income or not. It's a fun and unique place .. a place to go to escape for awhile.

I remember joining Mylot over a year ago and I had to go back and look at the guidelines several times to make sure that I was not doing anything wrong here. I have tried my best to do right but sometimes my discussions get deleted for some reason. It doesn't happen very often though. The rules are straight forward and we must go by them to stay around in Mylot and earn here too.

OMG! I committed a breach early on after I became a member and boy did I get raked across the coals. You bet I read the rules more closely and try my best to stay on the right side of the law henceforth. I love this site and would never purposely break rules. Thank you for printing rules, we all need to be reminded once in a while what's acceptable.

When I first started with Mylot I used to get the Do's and Don'ts mixed up so I found by not reading the Do's and remembering the Don't help me a lot, there is a lot to remember there...

I think the one rule that sticks out most to me is that you aren't supposed to use excessive punctuation. I can somewhat, at least, follow most of the other rules but that one gives me pause. I have to ask but what exactly would be considered 'excessive'? I find it strange that something like that is mentioned in a list of rules for posting. I guess to answer my own question, the only thing I could think they are getting at is don't end a sentence with seventeen exclamation points. But if they mean I need to streamline my typing/writing style to eliminate all my quotation marks, commas, and ellipses, I'm in deep doo doo. lol

I haven't committed any of those written on the DON'Ts section, since I am very familiar with that. I have the guidelines bookmarked, after I was told by another member here to read it. But I am disappointed to other members here, since they don't read it and yet they would ask for some explanations on other members if ever something goes wrong with them. I just hope that they do check the guidelines first, before posting a topic about that particular subject for them to at least be aware of what they did and where they went wrong. Lately, I've been seeing tons of posts about milestones -which are obviously against the guidelines. There's too many of them, which I'm sure that sooner or later the admin would find out and delete. In which their points, earnings and ratings as well would go down because of some deletions that would occur in just a matter of time..

This is a good post. I don't have to go to the guideline portion of my lot to read it all over again. I do make mistakes and don't follow the guideline sometimes especially when I get lazy. Good job my friend. I do hope we follow the guideline well to keep the mylot community a worthwhile place to be.

Well apparently posting a discussion about another myLot user is frowned upon, so I had a couple that got deleted. I was trying to find out why somebody had gotten banned!

really good and absorbing post. and thanks for this post. it not only helps others who are new but the existing ones also got a chance to look once again. and we are sure to miss some of here and we tend to do by mistake and some knowingly.

That was a useful thing to do. It's easy to ignore the rules sometimes and very useful to be reminded of them to help us all be better mylotters. I did read the rules when I first signed up. But, it's easy to forget what they are. Especially since there are violations which makes you forget the rules cuz others are making the same mistakes. Thank you

(Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings. *) I think many people dont realize this. I have seen people tell new people, to respond to every response, and they will make money. So this is a good point, and many people should be reminded of this one. (Post jokes, recipes, etc. as discussions. This is a form of abuse and all recipes and jokes will be deleted if they are started as a discussion.) This is interesting, considering I have a interested titled jokes! So, what type of discussions do I post under the interest of jokes???? Anyways, thanks for reminding us of the guidelines!!!

Thank you very much for posting this guidelines. If not because of you I wont learn those things that we should not do in participating or posting a discussion. Now I can see a lot of violators and I think in some point I can also be called as violator. I don't know where to find this guideline here, at least now I can also encourage my friends to read this as a general guide.
