Cleaning your bathtub - are you an innie or outie?

This morning as I was in the shower merrily cleaning the tub and wall, I thought of this being a discussion at myLot. And no, please don't try to picture this, not a pretty picture haha. Anwway, I clean the tub and shower walls while I'm still in the shower as this seems to be a very efficient way to get it done. So I scrub away and get everything all clean and then get out. So how do you clean your tub?

Sometimes I will clean it while I am in there, sometime when I am not. This does remind me of a funny story. I used to work for a cleaning company, I was in the tub/shower merrily scrubbing away....when I accidently turned the shower on. I was no a happy camper, I was in a uniform, nothing to change into, and wet. First and only time that happened, now I am extra careful.

No offense taken...it was funny to see, specially when I came out of there sputtering and cussing and calling myself a stupid b!itch, hehe.

No offense, but that would have been truly hilarious to see. I worked in health care and got myself wet numerous times helping with showers - I got careful there as well.

I use cleanser on the tub while on the outside of the tub. Get on my knees and reach inside to scrub. The bathroom with the tub isn't used that often since most of the time I am in a hurry and shower in the other bathroom. Am afraid I will slip when showering in the bathroom with the tub because the tub tends to get a little slick from shampoo.

Oh boy, there was shampoo spilled in the tub when I got in for a shower this morning. Good thing I am extremely careful getting in. Our other bathroom has just a shower and would be really nice to use, but my son uses that bathroom. Enough said about teenage boys and bathrooms.

I should do it the way you do it. I wait til there's some mold, then I clean it. First I spray Lysol mold and mildew, then later I'll scub it. Then I thank my girlfriend when she tells me the shower looks wonderful.

I'm definitely an innie when it comes to scrubbing the shower. It's so much easier and any gunk, or shower cleaner you get on you can be washed off straight away! I quite enjoy scrubbing the shower when I'm in it!

I originally used these high strength cleaners and remember getting a lot of faded spots on my shirts!

I don't usually clean the bathtub... but I would probably start from the inside and then move out... I like to spray water everywhere and the clean up from the inside to the outside, to the floor and then the wall tiles...:)

I think this is a logical way to go about it. I seem to clean the outside - floor etc. another day. I'm out of steam after the tub.

I find it much easier to step inside the tub when cleaning it. It is also easier to reach the shower walls without too much reaching and stretching. The tough job is getting the floor of the tub clean. Mr. Clean has a scrubber that has a long handle and works great. One of my clients has this and it works great.

I know, I'm getting to the point where I don't like getting down to scrub anymore. I'm not above sitting on my butt cleaning the kitchen floor.

I smiled when I read for us not to picture what you were doing that it was not a pretty picture. lol. I don't clean mine that way although now that I think about it it is good tip. I believe I will start cleaning my tub this way now. Thanks for the good discussion. It gave me food for thought.

As long as you don't use a toxic cleaner. I use green cleaners and it's not bad being surrounded by that.

You mean your supposed to clean it? I'm joking. I clean on the outside because I don't deal well with most chemicals.... Oh, and I don't have a "tub" I have a sit down shower.

I hurt my feet in the mid-90's. For a long time I had this stool in the tub to bathe sitting on, but when I remodeled I wanted a very low lip step in shower with a bench. The tile gets cold in the winter so I basicly sit on a no skid matt in the winter, but other than that, the floor is unglazed tile that is no slip and it just a great place to take a shower.

Oh, wouldn't I love that no skid tile. I basically "goose step" my way around the tub.

I don't deal very well with cleaners either and have been using "green" cleaners, plus my newest is using lemon. Now there's a lovely smell coming out of the bathroom. Boy with a sit down shower, you can really take it easy when you're cleaning

I won't picture you doing that if you promise not to picture me doing the same thing. It is so much easier for me that way.

Ah, as you we see on here, we're not alone with our technique. I sometimes wonder when the family thinks, if they ever do, when the tub gets cleaned.

I am an outie usually though there have been times that I have been an innie and cleaned the tub out before getting out of the shower. What an interersting discussion!

I'm a definite 'innie'... I usually take the dirtiest dog in with me and bathe them quickly. That way, they can stay in the warm room while I finish, and get themselves mostly dry on my pile of dog towels. After I wash, I use a spray cleaner and a brush to clean the walls and rim of the tub. I step out with the water still on, and let that all rinse down. I hit the walls with a squeegee, and I'm done!

Haha you made me laugh about the dog. My dog won't come near the tub when I'm in it anymore. He's been grabbed way too many times.

The grrr-lees are a problem... they don't like it much, but our Schnauzer was trained that way when he was an only child and doesn't mind at all! He likes it a lot better than being in that big tub all by himself.

Well I clean houses for a living and I use those magic markers they have out now, to clean the shower stalls and tubs. I go on my knees and scrub them, so I guess I am an outie. I clean my own this way too. I have once tried to wash it down when I was in the tub and I found it too soapy and I got the soap on myself and it is harsher soap and I don't like getting it on my body.

I just read about using the magic eraser above and put one in the bathroom to use tomorrow. I love those things. I can see if you're doing this professionally, you would prefer to be outside - doesn't sound like a plan crawling around inside someone's tub

After I am all washed and lathered up still, (after shampooing my hair that is) I rinse the wallks of the shower then wash them as I also rinse myself off. Then I am done. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I like to watch my hubby doit :) he is so much better at clening than me. if i clean the tub i just spray stuff on it and hope for the best when i wipe it down - he will usually actually get in there and scrub it with a scrubbie to get the soap scum and whatnot off of it! I am so very lucky to have married him!!
