Have you read the rules?

I'm guilty of not having read any of mylot guidelines or frequently asked questions. Most of the information I get about the site I read in other peoples posts or learn from those commenting on my discussions. How many of you have actually taken the time to read the guidelines or how many people prefer to ask members of this site questions and learn from their personal experience?

I did read the rules and the FAQ when I first got here... because I wanted to know how to make money on this site.
But it was of very little help... as it is all a big secret... and I had to figure it out for myself.
And obviously... I must be a slow learner... because if you can make $1.36 by asking a lot of questions... I have been wasting my time answering questions. I have a very good day when I make 30 cents.

Today I have dropped yet another star rating and now am 83/100 and only posted 2-3 questions, but earned almost $2.00. I don't know what I'm doing.

Are you sure that you are not redeeming your star rating with myLot for money?

When I first joined myLot, I made sure that I have gone over all the guidelines and frequently asked questions. I learned a lot about this site by reading the frequently asked questions. However, I understood all these better by reading the discussions or responses posted by those who have been in this site for quite a long time already. Of course, I also have learned from my personal experiences here at myLot. I realized that what could happen to others won't necessarily happen to me.

Yes, I have read it. I believe most mylot didn't read or forgotten about the guidelines. That is why we see some people discussions get deleted. I have always make it a point to read the term and condition in any sites that I am considering to join. I hope everyone will take some time to read the guidelines.

Initially, I had gone through the FAQ section before joining MyLot. But i hadnt read the MyLot guidelines. But soon i realized that there were a lot of info in it. So one fine day, when i was absolutely having no work to do, I opened up this section and read the entire stuff :)
Usually before becoming a member at any site, I have a look at the FAQs. :)

I was here quite a long time before I read the Guidelines. They surprised me, no recipes or jokes etc. But I suspect that one of the problems with policing a site like this is copyright and intellectual property issues. If we write or copy something that is someone else's published work then not only can we get sued but myLot will for definite. There is a certain randomness to how they interpret what we write I have noticed. Some people can hardly put type to computer (as oppose to ink to paper) and they get squished, others seem to get away with just about anything. Although I have asked people for their interpretation of certain aspects of the Guidelines, the only people that really know are in myLot HQ.

I already post a lot before i read the discussion. Everything i know before here was all from mylot user. I ask from my post and they post a reply. Someone told me about the guidelines and there i have found that there are few rules that i already violate. From them i put it into good things. I had a double account before and deleted one.
I also thought that posting a link violate their rules but when i read it, i saw that my link is exempted and doesn't violate their rules.

I can truthfully say that I have done both. I have read the rules. I have read them several times. I have also read other peoples discussions on the rules and have learned from them. I have a hardtime understanding some written things and it is easier for me to do both of the things so I can understand better.

YEs, kbourgerie, I have read the rules and the how things work section on mylot - but not since I first joined - it has likely made a few changes since then adn it is even more likely that I may have forgotten a thing or two
I was compelled to read them as I wanted to find out what gets compensated and what does not.

In my industry, there's a very well known saying or should I say acronym. RTFM - Read The Fricking Manual. I would have saved so much gas if people would just read the manuals that come with things when they purchase them. So, due to this being a big problem, I *always* read through the rules, the guidelines, the FAQs and the EULAs. Due to identity theft and all the scam artists on the loose, you almost have to read everything to make sure that you aren't getting yourself into something more than you intend. There's nothing worse than challenging a charge for something to only find out that you agreed to it by agreeing to the Terms of a website or software. Had you actually read through the fine print, you would have seen that charge and would not have continued on with it. Oh well, you live and you learn.

No I read nothing - just go ahead anyway. Not sure it would make any difference to how I am here anyway. I'd just laugh if I was negative starred or banned anyway.

I am on so many sites that it would be hard to take the time to read all the different TOS agreements etc. As far as I'm concerned, jjust be nice, be fair, don't use offensive language, don't try and take advantage of the system, and all will be fine.

I did not read the rules at first. I figured it out by what is obvious, and went from there. I knew that most forums do not allow links with your id number on it. Then I read others posts, and found that some who I responded to got deleted. I checked the myLot rules. I figured that the one who reported was the one who deliberately put their link with their id number in it. It does seem a rather good explanation, does it not?

Hello. I read both faq and terms (and whatever was to read hehe) at the beginning. So ot would be over a year ago. I don't remeber much from it. I sometimes needed to look for some tips or info about mylot in discussions. All these site faq, terms, guidelines etc. are sometimes confusing, mylotters say everything brighter. And we can find in topics some tips which won't be found in faq page.
I am trying to read frequently asked questions, blogs, terms etc. when I join a new site. It helps me to start using the site.
Cheerio, jazgottt.

Guilty! I have never read the guidelines, nor have I asked questions to find them out. I have mostly just gone with the flow and hung out and done what I've done. It's been interesting to find someone else ask and get an answer to something that I've wondered about but never looked to find out or asked someone about.

I have gone through every link on this site, that I have found so far. So yes, I know all the guidelines and I know what not to do here. But it amazes me how many people break those rules here and get away with it. I have seen so many rule breakers, postings, and they don't get deleted. Then I have read so many that are against the rules, and they are still here, not deleted. I don't know that knowing the rules matters here. But I still have read them all, and I read them about every two months to refresh my mind.

Well, I read the rules. But sometimes I would like to ask the others about some points I didn’t find in the rules or guidelines.
And mostly, I would learn from the others’ posts or discussions here, myLotters surely have a lot of experiences to share with the others so I would say that I learned from both the rules / guidelines and the members’ experiences.
