When I was a kid and lived with my Dad, he had a big hill in the backyard. At the top of the hill was the house and at the bottom was the garden. I used to spend hours lying on that hill watching the clouds roll by and trying to decipher the shapes. Those were the days…when my biggest concerns were did the clouds look like geese or crickets LOL
I don’t get to do any cloud gazing now but I still like to look at pics of them online…for me they are very relaxing.
Did you ever cloud gaze? Do you still? I’m including a pic with this discussion so you can do a little gazing…let us know if you see anything.

We have a big hill just behind our house..when we were kids we would take a blanket and picnic. We would lay there for hours sometimes just watching the clouds and looking for different shapes and such. We also used to go out at night to lay there and look at the stars. One night my friend and I were star gazing..I think I was about 11. Anyway we fell asleep and were rudely awakened by my mother shining a flashlight in our eyes... We had no idea it was 11:00 pm....lol We were so sound a sleep we didn't even hear everybody yelling for us and searching for us..hehe
Brightest Blessings, Mari

I still love cloud gazing and with each of my older grandchildren we've often looked at the clouds to see what pictures they made. With one of them we've even made up stories about them. I'm looking forward to the youngest one being old enough to cloud gaze.

I loved to lie on the grass and gaze at the clouds as a child - and I still do if I get the opportunity; it's just so relaxing, trying to decipher the shapes of the passing clouds! Ah . . . memories!

Clouds are a great equalizer of life. We look at them when they are moving so effortlessly and wish we could. We look at them and our imagination is inspired to see many different things. There are clouds that are light and fluffy blowing easily along to anywhere the wind takes them. Then there are those dark and forboding ones which make us think or worry. Then of course there are the ones which we try to see if we can make out the images of things from dogs to Jesus. I love to watch the clouds.

I love to be inside the clouds when we are flying. Or above them.

It's too sunny and clear here in MN today. Not a cloud in the sky this afternoon. This morning there were some. But it was so windy they changed instantly as you stared at them. I love this shot I took last fall. Just the colors are awesome. I didnt look for a shape or figure in it.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I'll check the photo out after posting this as I am repsonding via email. I've enclosed a photo I took last year of an approaching storm. I think I see an alligator or crocodile in this shot. The head is at the very right and the legs and ears are visible. Hahaha! I love cloud watching trying to find any shape that resembles something all the time.

Yes--- I cloud gazed as a child and now I do it with my child- We own 5 acres of land with our house. Every summer we lay out in the grass and look up at the clouds. It's still fun to me ~ and I love hearing what my daughter sees. Good old quality time that I'm sure she will pass down to her kids- and look at the clouds with them :) Imagination ! I love to build on it. She is 11--- and now she tells me what the clouds mean :) gotta love science class-- Mom those are storm clouds... can you see the rain in those? lol but on warm sunny days we do gaze... My favorite are when they are puffy like cotton balls! :)

Sunday afternoon, my friend drove mom and me to a few stores. I usually do all the driving so it was a nice change.
The sky was amazing with layers of clouds that seemed to go all the way down to the ground. Rays of sunlight streaming through them and blue hues that ranged from light sky blue to a deep cornflower blue. So much depth...it was breathtaking.
I paint murals in homes and love to look at the sky for new ways to paint them. I do, however miss taking the time to just lie on the grass and look up at the sky. I'll have to make the time this year. I also have a habit of checking the sky at night when I walk my dogs. If it's clear, that usually means the next day will be pleasant.

I did this a lot as a child..I remember i use to go to Sunday school and this friend of mine would ask me over to her house afterwards....We would take a blanket outside after lunch and we stared at the clouds as we lay on our backs looking up into the sky and we would make shapes of all kinds of things out of the clouds...She would share what she found and i would share mine,we could lay there for hours,it was so peaceful.....I remember it very well....I have also done this since i have been an adult,i don't know why but it feels so relaxing, and it just gives me a nice feeling just staring at the clouds..It is amazing all the shapes you can make.........Sometimes i just like to sit on my front porch and stare into the sky.....

I used to cloud gaze all the time, now, only when I'm sitting on the back steps and it is not too bright.
Clouds can be very inspirational things.

my mom and I used to cloud gaze and point out
what the clouds looked like. now I still do that
even from my bedroom window. sometimes they look
like big fluffy pillows, other times like big animals
and I just use my imagination. thats so much fun.

I love to gaze at clouds. When i was young on the island we would lay on the porch at nights and just watch the clouds. We would see who could find the most shapes, it was fun.. seeing that we had no tv. I still do it to this day, it's just that now my siblings and cousins have been replaced by my grandson.

My grandparents had 160 acres in southeast Oklahoma. We took the beds outside in the summer, as well as putting a linoleum out on the ground to lay on. When it was summertime hot, it was so cooling to lay out and look up into the blue sky and see how high the clouds piled, and look for figures in the sky.

I love cloud gazing, it is peaceful and beautiful and relaxing. I did it at as child as well as star gazing and I still do it now, whenever I have a chance to do it. It is one of the simplest and inexpensive way to enjoy life.

It seems like the clouds lately are just big storm clouds, but when they're the big fluffy ones I do try to make shapes out of them. I remember doing it with my kids - we had a great time with it!

When I was a child I spent many long and happy hours lying on my back watching the clouds go by. There is something facinating about cloud watching, spotting the shapes they make, seeing them crash into each other, the sun shining off them at the end of the day. I still cloud watch now and again, gazing out of the window for ages at a time, I find it relaxing and peaceful, a time to step away from all the stress and hassle of the day and just chill out for a while.
