As many of my friends know I have a large supply of Lilies of a few varieities in my front yard. They have been popping up from their sleeping grounds for about 2 weeks now. Well we have been around normal and slightly above normal temps for a few days and they are sprouting up all over and getting larger as well. This is the largest one so far. It has it's many leaves already forming and won't be long before this is 2 feet tall with many flowers soaking up the sunshine. Are your lilies starting to pop out? How far along are they as far as leaf growth etc? Or any spring flowers for that fact. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Oh that is so beautiful! It would be great if I would have some lilies in our garden but I am not sure if our hot weather is alright for the. We have bunch of roses and orchids and a flowering cactus that I really am not sure what it is called. Take care and have a nice day!

I remember your discussions on Asiatic Lillies from last year. I thought we didn't have them here, but I have seem them in the nursery. The only bulb type plant I have coming up so far this autumn, is a rather biggish "thing" with red flowers. It almost takes over like a weed & I am not that keen on them.

Yellow Lily - One photo of last years flowers
All lilies I think love heat and sunshine. Mine thrive in partial shade as well as the ones in direct sunshine. They are beautiful. Here's a photo of my yellow ones from last year. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hello dear Grandpa Bob. It is always very nice to have a garden of your own so that you could plant anything that you like, but that kind of life is far away from me. I am very happy that you lovely lilies have been popping up from their sleeping grounds to start their journey of life to the full. Happy planting, dear Grandpa Bob.

I don't think I have any lilies, but there are things popping up out there that I have no idea of what they are. I did get one of them identified as a form of sedum, but there are few more that I need to get pictures of to see if any of those 'in the know' at this one gardening site can help me. I did find another form of daffodil (at least I think they are!) growing at the edge of the property/woods line and tried transplanting them out front today. They were very deep, though, and I couldn't get the hole deep enough so I don't know if they'll 'take'. No big deal - everything I'm doing is free, so not much of a loss!

I have a few seedums planted as well to attract bees and butterflies to pollinate my apple trees. I've got a Clematis sprouting up now as well as Columbine and others also. I think the daffodils can be planted about 4 inches deep or so and thrive. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

we still have a backyard full of snow, so there would not be anything sprouting up in any back yards in my area for a while yet. It is so beautiful to see flowers though.

I have one that is getting quite tall. If it wasn't dark I would snap you a pic! My dianthis (pinks) have started blooming. The azaleas are budding. Everything is starting to pop up and green up! I am hoping it will be a better year than last year. We had a big freeze, late after very warm spells and it froze a lot of trees, our muskidines, and lots of our flowers.

I don't have any lilies planted around my home. Between the dogs and the cats, they wouldn't last. I have to have roses with thorns to keep them away from them. LOL! I just wanted to stop in and give you a thumbs up for your lilies. Good job hon!

Plant them away from where the animals run or use a decorative fence to keep them out. Thanks also. It's appreciated also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't have any lillies in my yard. I don't have any sprinf flowers out either. I usually put our artificial flowers in my boxes because I have such a green thumb and I am the only one who will care for them along with our garden also. My husband and daughter just do not get into like I do. I put flowers pots out and put flowers in my boxes around my trees though. The trees are really leafing out good now. I am glad spring is here and summer is on the way too.

See photo above for what one of my Lilies look like. This is not an Asiatic though. Those are smaller flowers but taller stems. We plant petunias and pansys in our flower boxes for the porch and deck and the back porch as well. I have a HUGE green thumb it seems. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My lilies are bout 7" tall now that they are done peeping and actually growing thru the mulch I put down on top and around them last fall. Won't be doing much watering either being the mulch has prevented any moisture from escaping with all the rain we've been getting.

I only have a few lilies, some of them are the white trumpet type, one is a black berry lily, leaves look like iris leaves, the floweres on it are dark coppery color and about as big around as a quarter, with black dots. It sets seeds and they look like a little blackberry. I have leaves on everything. Have had crocus, hyacinth, and I will post pictures of a dwarf, multi stemmed tulips. I also have fruit trees blooming, the pear smells heavenly.

I am usually not here around this time of year because it is usually my husband's deployment cycle. This year someone else went. I have all kinds of flowers in my front flower beds! I am not sure if I will have lilies or not because I didn't plant any of these flowers. I have some pretty pink and purple ones that I don't know what they are. I also have some yellow daffodils and some really nice bright red tulips! I was pretty excited to see all those flowers bloom!
