need help marketing

me and my husband has started two bussinesses i'm selling avon and he sells travel packages i'm off to a good start but there is always room for improvement.my husband is finding ways to advertise but is having a tough start. can you offer some ideas on ways you advertise your business. and we are looking for cheap or free ways. please help.
