We have to take our lawn mower to the shop. So I was looking at electric mowers on line and came across a push reel mower. Buy They are about as expensive as the gas mower. I couldn't believe that a push mower would cost so much. Do you have a push mower? did you pay quit a bit for it? do you like it? Thought it would be good exercise.

I saw them at www.sears.com the other day on sale for $99 and the craftsman name brand... now I wonder if that would also land the craftsman lifetime guarantee since it is not a power tool. hmmm, is it a tool or a machine? $99 is quite a bit less than a gas powered mower - and the savings in fuel (be it gas or electric) will save lots in the long run. anyhow, we do own an old reel type mower and it worked excellent at our last home, once the blades were sharpened - however, it does not function at our new place at all - why? because our land is uneven. in order for a rotary to be successful you need to have pretty level ground.

Our yard is the same way very uneven. I don't have the strength to push a push mower and I don't think my grandson would use one ether. I was just surprised that the one's on line cost as much as a gas mower.

If you want the best cut you should use the reel mower. The do a really good job. It is also healthier. You are not breathing in fumes from the mower and you are getting some exercise. They usually cost more than a regular mower.

Thanks for your input. The reel mowers cost $229.00. I really don't want to buy a mower because I don't know where I'll be after June7

My mom gave me a Black N Decker electric mower many years ago. That mower has been the best. It will go thru stuff that a gas mower couldn't do. She bought a rechargeable mower that was junk, it wouldn't go thru anything. The newer push mowers are easier to use then the older ones, it would also be good excercise. I wouldn't want one, too much work. I hate cutting grass. My neighbor has one and he pushes it and it doesn't look hard to push. If money wasn't an issue and I was buying one, I would like to get a riding mower, that would be up my alley.

I used to have a riding lawnmower a few years back and I lived it. I couldn't use a push mower as you said too much work and I don't have the strength any more.

I have a gas push mower and I love it. I think we gave about $150.00 to $200.00 for ours and it works great. It also has a bag on the back of it that we can use if we want to. It starts up every time. I wouldn't like an electric one because I would have to keep unplugging it and plugging it back in to do my whole yard. It is very good exercise. I cannot wait to get my yard looking pretty again.

That sounds just like the one we have. I think that the trouble with ours is that the ground is so sandy that after a while the mower pulls the sand up into the workings.

I grew up having to push one of those. It would be great exercise. I think I was comparing prices a few years ago and found that they were just as expensive as the gas lawn mowers. One think with them you wouldn't have to pay for the gas to make it run. Especially with the price of gas these days. I have a push gas mower. It's alright, but I've never owned a riding lawn mower to compare it to.

The Push mower that I was looking at cost $229. You can get a gas mower for that.

I do own a push mower. I paid 100.00 for it at walmart. You can get exercise with one. But its not bad if you have a small yard. I don't recommend one for a big yard.
