Truth Hurts

Today I have dropped again down to 77/100. Tomorrow no doubt I will have a silver star, but I've gotten used to it and will look forward to having a 2 by the end of the week or beginning of next. LOL.

I don't mind responding and losing points Gabs - I lose track of my points. They seem to go up and down like a yoyo on a daily basis lol. I was just about to respond to your earlier discussion but it disappeared before my eyes! I agree with everything you said in it. People really need to get a life - how sad must they be to spend their time trolling online. How inadequate must they be as people in real life! I do think myLot needs to take this issue a bit more seriously than they have done, but I suppose to be fair there is only so much they can do. It's unfortunate but there are idiots everywhere online and they're quite hard to get rid of.

We have lost so many good members from MyLot because of the star ratings. Those who have left always started good discussions and commented on discussions with thoughtful responses. I wish they would come back, but know that they will not.

I missed your now deleted discussion on this Gabs, but I'm glad to see this one still up and kudos to you for restating and sticking to your opinion. Sooner or later admin has to take notice of these kind of discussions and make some changes. You are so right that it is not fair that mylot be perceived as a bully site, because there are so many good people here and the cowards that play these silly games need to get a life and get off site.

Poor you. I have had a friend's discussion deleted too - nothing we can do about it. I have enjoyed my short time with myLot, there are really good, kind people here but as you say there are some bullies around too. Sorry to hear that you have been on the pointy end, keep posting, please!

Unfortunately this is a problem that MyLot has had for years and the reason I don't have a 10 star. There are some people here that if you dare to disagree with them, will follow you around and do everything possible to cause problems.

I'll respond to this anyway despite of what happens :) It's sad that this is happening on a site like here. On other forums, okay its expected! But its ashame trolls are coming here and trying to ruin the reputation here. This is truthfully one of the few forums I use (and the most too) and don't want to see mylot go down because of a few trolls who have nothing better to do with their time.

Ahhhhhhh so that's what your deleted discussion was about. Going thru email and wondered what it was about when I tried responding to it. Weird, but usually you can read the deleted discussion in your inbox but can't respond to it. This morning, I couldn't even read it in my email. Just opened to a blank page. I think the stars are pretty colors but could care less about the point/rating system. All my friends are numero uno in my eyes regardless what some trolls did to adjust them.

Hello gabs8513!:-) I would agree with you in whatever you said about Trolls. An honest and daring individual will voice his/her opinion in open for others to challenge it. Probably those Trolls can't face the challenge and hence the trolling, negative ratings, abusive tags and language etc! I think these people are uncomfortable with what they are and what they stand for, they are cowards and so unable to defend themselves in an adult manner! You are also right that such activity, if allowed, will only bring mylot bad name. Mylot staff seriously need to address some issues immediately to save the image of this site which is being tarnished by few individuals as I believe that majority do not resort to such activities. It's only good for mylot itself to reign in and take control. Mylot also needs to look into how they handle abuse reports. It appears that when a certain number of reports are received by the system, a discussion is automatically deleted regardless of the fact whether it was reported in good faith or by one person in multiple identities. That's an area that needs serious attention too. My own discussion that had no violations was deleted too and mylot is not responding in that respect either! I think older members know that star system isn't a true representation of someone's value here, only mylot is insistent that it is. It would be better off without stars! Your discussion is fine and I see no reason, whatsoever, that it should be deleted!

Hiya gabs, it got deleted then did it, thats no good is it, a lot of people this is happening too are on my friends list, some have got the grey stars and some the green stars, it is a pain in the butt. Take care.

Oh,I'm sorry to hear that.I have never done that and I don't want othersdo that either.I think we should respect others.But some times I also get this kind of things and I feel very angry obout it.

I responded to the other one, and I will respond to this one. I cannot see any consistency in deletions, or reductions, and i do not try to. I do not even notice if they hit me any more, at least not often. I more often notice when I get a surprise penny or two added. All of my friends are blue star friends, and I never even see what their stars are, as I respond from e-mail.

looks like it is still up. I think you need to contact admin and explain all your concerns, including your last post being deleted for nothing. The only way they will do something about it is if they know that everyone is unhappy.

Ratings go up and down like a yoyo on here and I feel that too much importance is placed on them. Just lately there have been a lot of cases where people have had discussions deleted, ratings have dropped and people are getting wound up. There seems to be no good reason for this happening, other than the fact that it is stirring up an awful lot of members and, incidentally, generating a load of discussions on this subject. For what it's worth I think I have only even negative rated a handful since I joined here over a year ago.

Hi twin :) I know what you mean, but at the same time, I"m afraid we will find this kind of bullying everywhere. Not only here in myLOt. It's almost impossible not to find it in any place where people post, share ideas... ok I guess I should have stopped at " where people." Period. :) There will always be .. people. I prefer to - as a rule - not even recognize them, because that would be giving them more importance than what they have, thus validating them. So far I have been lucky, but i know that at any time any of us can be on the receiving end of such bullying. IN instances where that has happened to me in other places I have dealt with it differently but along the same lines - as much as possible avoid these people, not respond to provocative posts, and not get involved in their power struggles. In the very few occasions that I wasn't able to refrains from getting involved I realized that it gets everyone nowhere really fast.

I agree with you gabs that it did hurt me initially that why my star rating has gone down inspite of working sincerely on it. I got a very rude comment from one of the members on my response and I was shocked to see it. Though mylot people claim that behaviour of rogue members does not effect our rating, but I've seen that it effects significantly. These members just try to bully new members as you said.
