I am finally going to sing a solo at our Combined Church's Spring Concert

After years of fighting colds, nervousness, practicing scales, and appegios, and trying to sing on key, as well as finally having enough money to buy the sheet music instead of downloading it and running into copyright rules, I will be singing at the Spring Concert. I have dosed myself with Echinacea and Throat tea, learned how to open my mouth long enough and found that I do not look like a fool when doing so. I am all set. The concert will be on the 27th, so wish me luck.

Thank you. I did fine. I wish I could have done better though, but then I am a bit of a perfectionist. It is so funny because I was at a dress rehearsal when I was seventeen for a solo performance in my high school concert, but I never got a chance to go to the concert due to what happened then. So all through the years, I had a burning desire to perform but I never had the confidence until now. But at last, I was able to do it.

That's awesome that you will be singing at your church's spring concert. I won't wish you luck, but I do send blessings your way that your voice will be angelic and that you remain healthy and nothing interferes with your singing.

Thank you. Luck had nothing to do with it, just lots and lots of practice, lots and lots of memorization, and making sure I did not have that horrible nasal sound.

I was very good. Unfortunately I did not get a recording of my singing. I thought they were making a Cd, but I guess none of us were any good. I would not have minded it to see where I needed to correct it, but I guess no one will ever know. I do have some where I practiced, but that was not good enough. It seems my life is full of disappointments.

Thank you. I did not think I did that well, and I did not think my voice would carry, but thanks to the exercises I have been doing for breathing, I did very well. I plan to do another for the Christmas concert. I wish I could have had a recording as proof I actually did sing in public. Maybe I will have to ask if there was one made.

Thank you. I never thought I could make it. I mean singing a solo is sure a lot different from singing in the choir. If you make a mistake then, there are others, but if you do it in from of more than 500 people, well everyone knows it, but whatever mistakes I made no one noticed.

Thank you. Anyway the concert made out all right. No one made any serious mistakes (except the guys in the choir, as usual. ) and I did not forget my words or the music even though Trevor the loud baritone almost made me do so, because he was before me and I was going over the sheet music and trying to remember the music in my head. I am not good at sight reading - I can pick out a tune and play it exactly but when I try to associate notes with the music, well - I am getting better though.

Thank you. I did all right. I was not as good as Trevor (but then no one is) but I was better than the one following. She had to look at the sheet music, while I just had to glance at it twice. And they all clapped.

Suspense I have so so proud of you. Good for you for be brave to follow this through. I know it isn't easy. When I use to sing I would always pray and ask God to give me courage and strength to over rule my nervousness. I would also ask him to help me to sing the best of my ability. God was always faithful to me and I am sure he will be for you too! What is the name of the song you are going to sing?

I sang Sheep May Safely Graze. Did not do it in German though, my German is not that good, nor is my French and Italian for that matter. The concert was quite good and no one left the room when I sang, so I am rather safe.

I was excited. When I was waiting for my solo, I was so nervous because Trevor the best singer in our church was doing about two solos and he is a baritone and his voice can carry all the way to the end of the city. And here I was a high soprano who thinks that no one could hear her and I thought I would forget the music, but it came back to me and I sang like there was no tomorrow.

I finally did it. I was not nervous, but I forgot all that I knew. But I was good. In fact, I got suggestions as to what songs to sing for the Christmas concert, so when I get enough money I am going to ask for my friend to take me down to the Choral Store and get some more music. And I ordered the Singerama course to improve myself for the next time. I do wish my husband would let me buy a piano though, but he won't. The big meanie!

Thank you. I wish I had gotten a recording. I should have taken along my digital recorder, but I thought, well they have the sound recording there, surely they will make Cds for the congregation because they do that when there is a copyright question. We just have the Cds for our private use, but they did not. At least, I have no heard of one.

Congratulations!!!!! I understand how you feel. I have been singing since I was 2 (my mom says) and every time I get up to do a solo, I am shaking in my shoes. It's not as easy as some might think. Just be sure to breathe, and don't think too much. Just Sing!

Breathing is particular bad for me. I never had much breath inside me, so I really had to make sure I had enough. I am not nervous in front of an audience because I have been in choir, but I was worried if my voice could carry. I do have a soft voice. It is getting better and I did get congratulations when I did sing at the concert.

I do not have much breath in me even with the diaphragm, but this time, I was able to sing through the phrases. It was a lot of fun at the concert and when I was before the audience, I did not think of them, I just started to sing. I am taking the Singorama Course (have to learn to sight read better) and also watching all the opera singers on You Tube. I sort of learn by osmosis.

I'm glad you did good during your solo! To help project your voice you need to truly use your diaphragm. I know people say that all the time, but never tell you how. A crash course in using your diaphragm: Bend slightly over at the waist and place your hands on your lower back. When you breathe in, you should feel your back expand. Be sure to feel for this expansion while singing. Do this at first and then it will become second nature. If you a breathing correctly, everything should expand. This helps with projection.

You should have heard me when I first started, I was off key and I had this horrible nasal sound. But I kept practicing and practicing. Yes, I finally did it. So now unless we are in Florida at that time, I will sing again for the Christmas concert.
And who knows?

I did it. It was very exciting and no one notice the mistakes I made. In fact, I got a pat on the back from my accompanist and she was forever riding me about making sure that everyone could hear me because there was not a microphone. I do not know how those opera singers do it. I do not have that powerful a voice.

Too bad they did not record it at the concert. Maybe someone did as I want to make a cd of all my songs just in case. I mean I have to prove to my husband that I really can sing.
According to all the applauses, I was good and I was told so by a few of my friends. Now I have to practice for the Christmas concert if we are not on vacation in Florida at that time.

Wow thank you. I did finally get a chance to sing, and although I was a little nervous, and thought I would forget the music, for some reason, I was able to get through it.
Oh and no one made a mad dash for the exit door while I was singing, so I guess I did something right.

I did make it. Was not nervous at all, well only a little bit. I thought I would forget the tune. I am very good at middles - not the range, = but the middle of the song, because there it goes into high notes and I am much better singing high then singing low. I sound like a frog, but I guess there was no frog in my throat then.

I did well. Some of my friends said I was quite good, but then I could not hear my voice as they heard it. I guess that is what it is about singing, you are no judge of your talents, but everyone else is. Too bad my husband does not like classical. He is more of the popular and western type.
