I got caught cheating.

Yes, I admit it. But I felt no guilt or remorse. I have an evil streak a mile wide, and I seem to be possessed and something takes over me..when...when I play Monopoly with the family. I always 'volunteer' to be banker. And, playing earlier over sunday dinner with the family, my eight-year-old cousin caught me sneaking a monolopoly tenner into my thinning pile of cash. Now they know how competitive I am and let it slide...but I had a lot of eyes watching me after! Now, my question, do you cheat? Is is so wrong?!

cheating for me is a big let down, If i cheat I won't be able to improve myself unless i cheat more and well bad consequences for such things.

Hi Shawchert, yes I can see your point. But it's just Monopoly, it's okay, right? :)

Ah I see, fair point! Well for me I'm never tempted to cheat on anything else, it really is just Monopoly! :)

Hi Ozzeth! Yes I only realised after I had posted it that it could have been read more than one way, oops. Thankfully I have never cheated in *that* way though, my cheating is strictly limited to Monopoly :) Have a great day. :)

You may have a career in politics! No, I never have cheated at Monopoly. I remember though that everytime we played Monopoly when I was growing up either my brother or I would get mad and turn the board over...probably was me, lol.

LOL I hope not! Ahh! Hehe I have the same memories, playing Monopoly with the eldest brother and getting so wound up that the board would end up upside-down and there would be those little red houses flying everywhere - I think the dog chewed one up once! Have a great day :)

Nahh I don't cheat in games. i like the challenge in the game. I probably tried a few fast ones when I was little and didn't know any better, but I would definitely not do it now.

As much as winning makes me happy, I think I will try to behave next time, if not for myself then to set an example for the younger ones. Thanks for your comment :)

Oh my gosh. I am laughing! This is so totally not what I expected the discussion to be about. To answer your question, no I don't cheat. I am really competitive but I don't feel like its really a win if I had to cheat to get it. My 9 year old son on the other hand will cheat any way he can! He loves to make up rules as he goes along too! And its funny how the same rules that apply to us suddenly don't apply to him for some creative reason.

LOL I think your son has a VERY bright future ahead of him; I love his thinking! On a more serious note, the winning 'rightly' and winning 'wrongly' is interesting to me; (only applying this to Monopoly), personally, winning is winning when it comes to those pastel-coloured slips of make money. I have thought a bit more about this (I need to get out more) and come to a strange conclusion; I think it's the game that's at fault, it brings out a certain side of me. Have a great day :)

Thank you so much lingli_78 for understanding! Yes it is just so temping when your pile of cash is thinning and youi have the nice pretty piles of pink and green money just waiting there, all lonely! I'm doing the money a favour by taking it. Really. But I do agree, honesty is the best policy. I will try to mend my ways! :) :)

Yes, I do cheat when playing with my nieces. But then that's for fun and I admit it myself later on. I feel, it only makes life more fun and different. And I just love the kids looking at me with undefined terror and rage in their eyes just to intidimate me before hand. For that thing alone I would like to cheat forever. Hope you understand..

I'm afraid I cannot cheat at games as even if it would lead me to win the victory would feel diminished as I'D know it wasn't by fair means/ Don't get me wrong I'm a win at all costs kind of girl, taking no prisoners but at the end of the day I have to kow I was the best not the most dishonest. I reccomend the card game "Cheat" to you where you can be as devious as you like in all efforts to win lol!

Hehe thanks for the tip, I'll check out the rules :) Playing devil's advocate here, one could say that winning is winning, and other participants also have the choice to cheat too.

I would think cheating to win a game would take the fun and pride out of the win, am I wrong about that? I don't cheat but I do like to win. I am the type that wants to win fair and square so that I can feel good when I do the I'm the winner dance and the your the loser song lol.

Well I'm lucky in that my family didn't take offence and just saw the funny side of a 23 year old adult cheating in a game of Monopoly, and it added a lot of laughs. But oh my god yes the winner dance is just the best dance, in the world, ever. Ever. :)

I used to cheat on board games. Not anymore. When I start playing board games with my children I dont want them to learn you have to cheat in games to "win". But i used to all the time. But it got me no where.

I can see why, and I think that's a great moral to teach your children :) I think I'll try and be on better behaviour! :)

I dont cheat. For I believe that whatever you do to others it will also be done unto you. Though for simple games I played when I was a kid, I dont deny the fact that perhaps there were also times that I cheat, somehow its our way of making sure that we will win over our friends. Of course cheating is wrong so I might as well do my best not to cheat on anything or to anyone.

Yes I think as children we all perhaps cheat a little to get our own way, althought there will be the exceptions. I think my cheating-compulsion at Monopoly stems from my older brother ALWAYS winning when we were kids, and he almost certainly would cheat, so I think I'll blame him. I have promised my cousin not to do it again, however :)
