I love to walk.
I was never that good of a jogger but I love to walk:)
Not walking fast but at my own pace. It's the time I actually have all to myself. I love to walk and listen to the sounds around me and thinking whatever is on my mind at the time.
I usually avoid taking the bus at the stop close to my home or work and instead walk for the most part of the way. It's about 3km each day. A time just to myself.
I don't power walk or raise my heart level that much, but just by walking I am using my muscles and feeling active, while enjoying it all the way :)
Do you like to walk? Do you walk regularly? Do you walk fast and use it as a form of exercise, or do you do it more for the gently movement and the relaxing effect?

Hi! I love to walk too. I used to walk fform home to school when I was in elementary and high school. My route when I was in elementary is usually the train tracks. Im not sure if its still active till these days. When I was in high school I used a different route, the shorter one becasue they made a new road that I people can use and I use it to get to and from school. I dont walk in the morning though because Im always late so my Dad gets me to school in our car just so I wont be late. haha!
Im not a jogger too. I easily get bored jogging and I easliy get winded then after that the side of my stomach hurts kind of like pins and needles are pushing through it and its usually on jsut one side. I dont know why. So I just walk.
Walking calms me too. I don it when Im alone and Im bummed about something. I walk really fast when Im in this mood. So having company just slows me down. It clears my mind. I just walk aimlessly. At this point I dont think of anything at all, I jsust walk. After 30minutes or so, and when Im usually almost drenched in sweat, thats when I stop, and start to think about my problem. It helps me to think rationally and therefore solve problems better.
Now that we've moved, I have to use a car or a transport service to get to the city proper. Before moving, when Im in the mood, I walk form our house to the city proper. I dont know how many kilometers that is but my friends look at me differently when they first heard I walked the kms from our house to the centro. they think its that far but for me its not that far. It usually takes me 25minutes and I time myself sometimes if I could go any faster.
Well, in ending, I brisk walk when Im alone. Walk average when im in the company of others. And I do agree that its the best and easiest exercise yet!

Oh my! HOw did I miss you? I thought I had commented on all the responses on the first page and now I see that yours has no comment. MyLot bugs again? :)
I know what you mean about going faster when there is a problem, I'm a bit like that too , and like you after a bit I slow down and start thinking more rationally.

Oh! you know its ok if you didnt leave a comment but thanks anyway, I really appreciate it. I try to do that too whenever I can. Commenting on all the responses on my discussions but sometimes Im at a loss for words. I mean how do you comment back on a response that seems like already close? I mean the response of the person already has a conclusion and you've already said that you agree to it and said all that you can say? Anyway, thanks a lot really for the comment and that you've really made an effort to inlcude me even when you've already passed me.^_^

I do not go walking often enough, but do enjoy it. It has the same effect on me as rocking in a rocking chair. Nice, gentle movement, breathing the fresh air,and (my secret) I like to walk just after sunset, so that people are turning on lights and I can see inside. It can be very interesting. Also, at that time of day you see different kinds of wildlife, bunnies, squirrels, raccoons, and different birds. I am not a power walker. If I walk with hubby at least part of the time is speedy, though.

Walking is mostly part of my daily routine but, I don't mind at all.
I really enjoy walking. Though exhausted by the time I get home, I do encounter interesting things on my walks. Sometimes, I meet classmates during in high school. Talk and catch up as they say.
Now, I sometimes bring my nephew along and we'd go to a basket ball court where there is a playground near by. Though he isn't big enough to ride the swing or be sage with himself on the stone slides, looking at him makes me happy.
After that, we walk back home but, not the way which we came from but, with another route which is more farther.
I even walk when I'm upset. Makes my head clear as I walk it out.

Yes I do love to walk too. Sometimes if it is a nice day I will take the dogs out for a walk too. They love it so much it is a real treat for them. Perhaps tonight I will take them out. I don't like it when it is cold as I can not really go out in the cold and walk for some reason I get itchy when my blood heats up but only in cold weather so it is hard for me in the colder months. I still like to do things and I do like to run on a treadmill. It is very important to keep fit and I think that eating well is a must too.

YOu know, I actually hate cold weather, but when I need to take a calming walk because I am upset at something, I don't even notice if it's cold or not LOL
I rarely use a treadmill but I am not sure it is my thing. I like the real thing: being outside, breathing fresh air, seeing all the things around me ....

I used to walk more than I do now. I am prone to leg and foot injuries and walking sometimes aggravates them. That's why I don't jog very often, too. I also stand all day and it makes the problem worse when I combine it with walking. So, I mostly go on the elliptical trainer at the gym. But, sometimes, when the weather is nice I go out for a really long walk or hike. Often, this is the only way I really get to see the landscape in many places. When my feet are doing good, I can go for hours. I prefer to walk up hills the most.

Well your case is different, if you are prone to injuries you have to be careful and find alternative ways to substitute walking. WHich you have found from what I read .
I don't like to go to the gym, it takes a lot of the calm / relaxing feeling from whatever exercise I do :)

Well I have always been a swimmer. I could never jog, or run. I do like to walk the dog about once a day. At my own, slow pace. I should do it more, but I walk a lot at work and college, so when I am relaxing, I dont normally think to go for a nice walk.

yes its true, i also suggest jogging with some push-ups.
These are basic exercises so no need to take help any guide or join any health club.

Yes a normal exercise plan could include jogging and push ups, but I am more into the relaxing effect of walking.
I don't like to pay for a health club specially because I don't like to be closed up inside.
I do tai-chi almost every day in our school yard, and I like to walk.
WHen it's summer I do swimming, canoing, biking and hiking if I go camping. I like more outdoor exercises that I do because I enjoy.

I love to walk for exercise. We walk a lot when it's warm outside. My husband and I take our son in his stroller and walk. We just love breathing in the nice air and hearing everything around us and seeing all the things around us. If I've had a rough day then I feel like if I take a little walk down our street that I feel better afterwards.

We used to walk to High Park almost every day when our kids were smaller. It was a wind down time and a great way for all of us to get fresh hair.
It's a big walk so we needed to take the stroller even when they could walk because by the time we were coming back the kids were always exausted:)

It's nice to hear you are walking 3 km daily. That's good habit. I used to jog on weekends but now I have taken to walking as a form of exercise if I do not have the stamina to jog. At all times, I am considered a rather fast walker by habit. Perhaps it is because I am used to walking fast from young.

I know exactly what you mean. The time spent alone with your thoughts is a good way to take time out from the hectic pace of modern life. Even walking to work (1.3 miles) through town can distract me from every day worries and I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of town and can quickly be walking in the fields or on a beach where just looking at the beauty around me can make me forget everything for a while!
I've always loved running and jogging for the same reasons, but I can no longer do either as I have Heart Disease. I can't walk fast but I can walk for miles if I have the time to, and even at my snails pace it exercises my heart and it does raise the heart levels enough to do some good. Gentle exercise done regularly is often better than a 3 times a week gym session and it doesn't cost anything! It's always been my prefered method of exercising and My Cardiac Specialist recommends I walk as much as I can. I also have another excuse to indulge my passion, a large German Shepherd called Willow! She's always happy to accompany me unless it's raining heavily and she doesn't have to be restricted by my pace.
Carry on walking and enjoying it, you can even say you are being enviromentally friendly, it's true as it's only your power you are using.

Yes I love to walk too but I am a little lazy I think because I don't walk daily but whenever I feel that I am not too far from my home I always prefer to walk instead of taking a bus or train and this makes me feel good. I am even thinking of talking a walking machine so that I can walk at home but I am not still sure about it.

I used to do walking and cycling before. Now a days I am not doing any exercises and gained some weight. I think I should be back doing some exercise or walking or cycling to stay in fit. I also enjoyed walking before. I had some friends and used to walk while talking with them. I think it is always very fun to walk with friends adn walk while talking. I never walked very fast. I also never did jogging or running. I like walking in gentle and relaxed manner.

i don't like walking too much although i know its quite good exercise and keeps us fit and fine but we don't get the time for walking.i am a student of b tech and i have the college through out the day so going to walk in the evening with the exhausted body is just completely out of the question and during the morning time i cant wake up early because of my wrong sleeping habits so i cant go for the walk but i do want to go and i think a regular jogging is a better option rather then the slow and brisk walking.
It also depend upon the age and requirement if you are old enough, then brisk walking is prescribed and if you have to develop the endurance then for surely go for the regular jogging.

WEll even when I was younger and did all kinds of sports I was never good with jogging.
I was never for the long run thing. I was fast for short periods but couldn't run for too long even if I paced myself.
But walking is a form of a gentle exercize and it works too :)
