We all know that good discussions get more responses. But few times, one do not get high responses on a deserving topic.I do not know about you all but I really think hard before posting a good topic for good topics earn good reputation of that perticular mylot user.I know that there are many mylotters who post good standard topics for but do not get good responses,it sometimes happen to me also.
So,how much expectation builds up in you while posting a good topic?

I belonged to this site for a long time before I ever posted any questions. Most of the time, I just answer topics because I wait until I think I have a meaningful question to ask.
It always surprises me that some discussions that are very simple like "do you like your cell phone?" get a ton of responses and other serious questions may only get a couple. Sometimes I've noticed that at certain times of the day so many people are starting discussions at the same time, that some questions just get overlooked.
Like I said, I have only posted a few questions and my top response was 12. I was happy with that, because they were all really good responses.

Well, when I had started a discussion when I had joined mylot,I would hardly get a response to my discussions, which I have started.
So,I made up my mind,to respond to more discussions, and to start discussions after wards.
Yes,you are right.Even when some one starts a good discussion,it doesn't receive a number of responses.
So,I think the number of friends also determines the number of responses, one might get to a discussion.
Cheers! Have a great day
Happy mylotting and happy earnings.

Lot of responses to be frank, but where ever i expected too many responses i dont find many of my friends responding actually. Yes it is disappointing to find a discussion with out our friends contributing but after all it depends on the interests of the people. So i guess there is nothing to worry about not getting good amount of responses for my discussions. Its been a long time now since i left mylot and i am just back so trying to find some new friends and improve my network.

Not too much for me! I don't start as many topics as I respond to. I do better with answering questions than starting discussions. And, most of my discussions that I started are about Big Brother (the show on CBS). There are a couple of us that are addicted to that show and I know who will respond to them. While it is cool if one of my discussions has a lot of interest inside of the community, I really enjoy getting responses from my responses to others. It is really all about the fun communicating here with others, for me. No matter if it is inside of a discussion I started or something someone else started. I just like hearing from others.

Well, what i think if I started a very meaningful discussion and just got 20+ responses I got satisfied, but sometimes discussions which are most likely to get few response got 50+ responses and few of discussions of mine also got 50+respnses but what makes the sense for these 50 responses if they are just for some polling type questions...
So I still feel that might be if i got 20 responses but usefull then its enough for me...
Have fun!!!

I think the amount of response may depend as much on how many friends you have, what category you're posting in, what time of day it is as it does on how "worthy" you deem the discussion.
I just have to remind myself that my priorities may not be the majority of Mylot users priorities.

Well, I have started discussions on here where I have gotten a lot of responses too, and then there are some discussions I have started, where I am lucky to get more than 2. Not sure why either.
I think all it is, is a trial and error. Try and find topics of discussion to talk about that will attract others, and keep them wanting to come back for me. It may take a while to find it, but soon people learn to trust you and come flocking to you just for who you are.

if it is a good discussion, i will expect about 40 responses at least... i think it is not too much to ask as mylot has 126,803 members now and i have more than 40 friends... i would expect my friends to support me and respond to my discussions...

I dont really get many responses. Whenever i stat a discussion i expect atleast 4 - 5 responses. Sometimes i post really good topics and i get no responses and sometimes even the dumbest questions get many responses

it depends on what type of discussion i have started. i have seen the trend here that i never get many responses for serious ones. may be there i would expect at least 10+. then for very easy ones, i will expect 50+. but that happens very rarely for mwe.

I always tend to follow this quote: "Dont expect good things to happen with you so that worst things wont hurt you much"
I don't expect anything from anyone here at mylot. I just start a discussion because i feel like communicating with you all. Last couple of discussions i had started had non-uniform number of responses. First time i had a discussion with over 70 responses. Earlier i had 32 responses in my discussion. Whereas another discussion whcih i started the same time had only 7 responses. So its just like what people like in the discussion and if they feel like, they will respond. so i dont build any ecxpectation. Infact i was surprised to see 0ver 70 responses.
But i would surely like to see some answers to my query

I am really pleased when one of my discussions gets a lot of responses but I don't expect it when I start one. I am just so relieved to get the first response, then I know I won't have a discussion with no responses.
I have seen some really good topics posted and yet only had one or two responses, so I think quantity does not indicate quality.
If you start discussions which anyone, of any age or nationality, can respond to it will obviously get more responses than if you start a topic about an issue only a few people can have an opinion on.

Some topics of discussion don't need much in the way of response..one or two answers may be enough to get the information the Poster was aiming for.Other subjects catch the attention and stimulate more discussion, and can run on...Personally speaking, having some discussions I've started still having low or no responses,I'd be satisfied with having my subject validated with some response...
