I would like to travel to Japan; I know it is a long distance away. I have never travel overseas by myself, and am not very fond of flying.
Could someone who have travelled to Japan tell me what it is like. I want to travel to Okanowa Island.

I have been to Japan five times, and visited Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagasaki. All very beautiful cities. I travelled by the bullet train , very fast and very convenient. If you will have the chance, I would suggest , take the bullet train to travel in the country.
Have a nice trip.

Hi, I've been to Japan for 27 days for an exchange student program. The places i've been to are Tokyo, Nagasaki and Kitakyushu. I went there during winter so it's cold but snow is not a problem. It snows but not too much. The Japanese are really friendly although knowing a little of the language may help. Be warned of the train tickets cause you'll be buying from vending machines and english translations are rare. Be prepared for a lot of walking. The food is great. If you're a real adventurist try their weird foods. But it's definitely great. The Japanese people are really helpful.

Japan is a nice country to visit. They have a very interesting technology and different style of living. Their big cities are very modern and their transportation system is very sophisticated. The bad thing about it, not so many Japanese can speak English. I felt very lost in there because it is hard to ask direction and I can't read any of their words. Be prepared, bring a talking dictionary so you can communicate or just join the group tour so you will have a tour guide. The last thing is the high price. Everything in Japan is very expensive.

I live in Japan, but relatively new. Japan is an exciting country with good people. Some people say there is a little bit racism, but I did not feel so far. If you are really interested to know more, http://mylifeinjapan-jayaprakash.blogspot.com/
I used to update my experience in Japan. Welcome to Japan
