Sometimes a lot of good comes out of bad!

On Saturday the 12th of March our home was burglarized. I was done by what my daughter believed to be her boyfriend. (Yes there was proof). Of course he never really was her boyfriend (she knew him less then a week) and she was more then naive in many ways. She had let the guy into the house while we were gone. A big no no in our home. While she was getting ready, the guy had time to look through the house, unlock a back door and return to sitting in the livingroom. She went to Work and when we got home almost $8,000 worth of items was gone. Gratefully we had witness that could identify the kid who entered our house and my daughter came clean quickly. We always hear bad things these days about the cops, but this time they made more then quick work in the process. I have to say that I was more then impressed with the professional and quick manner Detective Anthony Pack and his Partner Perry handled this situation. Within less then one full week our things were returned to us. Now the good thing here is the following. My daughter got a very big dose of reality. We had warned her for at least 8 Years (she is 17 now) never to let anyone into our house when we were not there. For that exact reason. Not to mention the kid could have harmed her. We also told her that we would hold responsible for the items stolen and replacement which she would pay off from her paychecks. Why? Because if she would not have let the guy in, he would not have had the chance to see what was here and do the break in. She also learned that you can not trust anyone you barely know and very few you know well. Sadly that is a reality in todays society.

First of all I'm glad your daughter wasn't harmed! This is scary indeed. I'm glad she has learned a valuable lesson in life and I hope she remembers it. Also, glad you got all of your things back!

Oh,I'm sorry to hear that first. But I think you are right. So the experience is very impotant.I believe that your daughter will remember this forever and so it may be a good thing.
