Strange names after marriage?

I had a friend at work called Betty, nothing strange about that right, well she was marrying a man whose last name was Jetty, and that would mean she would become Betty Jetty, I teased her about that and she said once married she would call herself Elisabeth, her name in full. I had a friend who always wanted to call her daughter Sara from the time she was a little girl, but then she married a man whose last name was Lee, and she would not name her daughter after the brand name, Sara Lee. She thought it would be cruel. Have you ever had to change your name, or Know someone who has because it didn't fit right with your last name?

I wanted to name my daughter Tina Marie. Marie is my middle name and I just simply like the name Tina. My family made a big fuss about that in saying it sounded too much like a drink, so rather than make a big deal about it I revamped my decission.

I can't think of any at the moment but I know I have run across a few. When I was pregnant with my first son I came across the name Garrett and absolutely loved it...until it dawned on me that it rhymed with my married name. We named him Troy instead.

I can't think of anyone who changed their name for this reason. But my husband went to school with someone named Justin Case.

My simple solution to the problem... Name before marriage: Dawn Wolfson Name after marriage: Dawn Wolfson My husband has a cousin who changed his last name to his wife's (a more common practice in Germany) and kept the name after his divorce. And a friend of a friend, Bonnie Greenberg, who wanted desperately to lose the last name, eventually married a guy who's last name was Greenberg. But I don't know anybody who changed their name due to an unfortunate combination like that!

My dance teacher when a child had a first name of Lynn. She was divorced but remarried several years later. Her new last name was Lynn. So she ended up being Lynn Lynn. I also heard of a man named John John. Now this was done intentionally and pretty dumb if you ask me. I don't get why a parent would do this to a child. Your friend did the right thing in ditching "Sarah" for her daugher :)

No, but those were quite funny. I did know this guy once named Payne Butler though. I would never want to be that cruel to my child. In church one Sunday, this girl was being christened, her name was Crsytal Golden Brown, chicken anyone?

I have not known anyone to personally do this but it makes me think of the movie where the girls name was going to be Martha Focker after she was married. And I had a teacher that told us this girl was going to named he baby girl (GoNorea) remind you of anything...Gonorhea...perhaps..but she talked her out of it. Could you imagine a child having to grow up with that name?

It is really funny when this happens, the only one I know was when my friend had her third child that was a boy and she loved the name Jack, and she was set on calling her son Jack until she was telling her sister, her sister said "Oh thats nice, you are naming my nephew after a dog" my friend said "What do you mean"? to which her sister replied "think about it" so my friend sat and had a think, and then she realised, her married name was Russell so her son would be a Jack Russell, which is a breed of dog!!!

I have never had any problem with my name single or married burt have seen some rather odd names. Like Merrit Jones who married a guy whose last name was Ferret. I imagine shegot a lot of teasing. then there was this sign on a medical building in Tempe arizona that read Dr.Pullem Oucsh and Dr.terran Yank and they were both dentists, Oucsh was actually pronounced as Ouch!

I've never actually knew anyone with that problem, but when I gave birth to my first child, I shared the room with another new mother. She gave birth to a girl. The nurse came in and asked her what the babies name will be. The ladies last name was Budd. She named her little girl Rose!!!! I heard of a dentist one time that was named Dr. Payne.

When I lived in Florida, I was in a Christmas business. One of my customers was Candy Kane. I also ran across a man whose name was Jack Frost - about two blocks from where Candy Kane lived.

Before she married, my little sister's initials were HAG, then she got married and became HAS, I do not know if that is funny enough or not. I also know someone who named their daughter Sarah Leigh, and could not figure out why we laughed.

duh, Sarah Leigh is still Sara Leigh, my friend who always wanted to name her daughter sara but couldn't because of Lee name being her married named, at least had the common sense to change it. She called her daughter Deanna Lee

I had friends in High School who were dating and we told them not to get married. Her name was Bea Donovan and she was engaged to Mike Feroni If they had married she would be Bea Feroni (Beef-a-roni!!!)

I knew someone who wanted to name her daughter Sophie Louise Angela nothing wrong with that but her surname started with a G so if you were to write her initials down it would be a very rude word. She settled for Sophie Megan instead!! Thats the only thing, we have to be careful about names and what they will spell out or rhyme with!!

So far i would think that the name that we have is something special and unique to ourself and we should be proud of our own name no matter who wrong it may fit after marriage. So, both me and my wife's name are still maintained as it as after marriage except that we have additional nicknames after marriage only.
