Hello Ladies, I am here today to talk to you about the sensitive subject of periods. haha, Ok but in all seriousness I wanted to ask everyone's opinions on the following questions :
1.When was your worst period?
2.What was your eating habit then?
3.Does too much sugar of caffeine effect your cramps?
4. Do you believe that it effects others cramps?
5. How do you get rid of cramps?
I am uncertain of when exactly my worst period was, but I do know that it was around the same time as my high sugar and cafeinne intake. It does effect my cramps, and can be really bad. I try not to eat that much sugar and caffeine enriched foods during this time. I do think that it is a big part of why people cramp so badly, as I have read it before. I usually take a shower or bath and allow th water to soothe the cramps away.

I don't remember which or when my worse period was but I do know that they have gotten worse with age. An older woman told me that they get worse then they get better. I think she was referring to the onset of menopause.
I have noticed that when I eat a healthy diet, my premenstrual symptoms are not that noticeable. I would venture to say that sugar and poor eating habits affect your cycle.

That's a good thing to know, although I am sure that it isn't that way with everyone. I know that it seems as if my periods are various. Some days my period flow will be great while other times it will be minimal.
I believe it all depends on the content of sugar and caffeine in foods

I am sure you would. I used to have an addiction to coca cola. I would go through two 6 packs in one day. My periods were a killer. I also used to eat sugar in my cereals, and i'd be paying for it later. Try using decaf while on your period and see if you have any more problems with your periods.
Also, drink more water when your on your period, it does help too.

Lately, everything has been horrible! Super-heavy flow, cramps, feeling bloated, achy, moody and generally yukky... I am kind of an organic health-food freak, and have found through research, that this is due to age and what the medical community has tagged, "perimenopause". Lovely.
So I combat these symptoms with exercise, increasing iron intake, and black cohosh seems to help. Anything with natural estrogen, too, seems to be slowly improving the state of things. Soy products and yams have scads of natural estrogen, or other hormones that increase the uptake or production of it.

That's great that your able to use these products to help ease all the acheyness. I have heard of everything, whether going to a store or otherwise. However, what exactly does 'black cohosh' do as I have seen it but always wondered for what something with such a crazy name is for.

The last 2 years have been my worst periods. They are crazy killer back pain along with abdomenal cramps. There is nothing that I can do to help the pain. I have a back injury so it does take on alot of the problem as well. With these last 2 years my periods are pretty much fading out and I don't get them monthly and don't have much of the heavier flow either. Something that the doctor will be looking into as well. I know something is going on and it has alot to do with my back injury. Caffeine and Sugar don't affect me at all this way either.

Before my accident I had no problems with cramps and they were never painful. They were a breeze. But now they are crazy. I have discussed with the doctor and we are still trying to figure something out to help ease that pain as I will not get out of bed when I have my period now.

I do not blame you, I know how they can feel. For mine, it does not matter where I am... the cold affects me, the warm affects me. It proves to be difficult when neither heat nor cold will help my period pain.

I am sorry, I know that that must make the pain that much worse. Periods can already be painful, and I don't understand why some women say they don't have painful periods at all. I know that my friends never seem to complain over their periods

I know my worst period was when I was younger, I started when I was about 11 years old, and my cramps were terrible until the age of 16. Nothing would really stop the pain. If I took any medication I would get worse. I read a book that said Chamomile tea works and helps get rid of them, so I started drinking that and it actually worked. Now I don't have periods every month because I have a IUD.

When I was younger my periods were very bad as well. Chamomile tea? Thanks for the tip, might have to try that to see if it helps. I have heard bad things about the IUD and that it makes a person very moody and hormonal.

That is true, about already being moody. I'm sure you feel better having less periods.
