I know if you have a clear wall on a corner you are going to be hit with paint can hoodlams but graffiti can be nice I think...today on my travels to Brunswick Street Fitzroy graffiti artists have shown that they are in actual fact good artists, I sometimes wish I had a blank wall I would love to have some meaningful art displayed on it...maybe thats the answer for those who are forever washing off swear wood and protest slogans, pay a graffiti artist to do a great piece of art on your wall.. Today I saw some great art works...

We got to be the first car waiting as a long freight train came through a neighboring town... it was like watching a rolling art exhibit! The lettering was fantastic, and the illustrations bright and exciting. I like graffiti, as long as it isn't all gang signs and bad language... real art is important, no matter where it is.

I agree that not all graffiti is bad. There is a famous British graffiti artist whose works now sells for big amounts of money. He is very talented and there are serious messages in his work. http://www.banksy.co.uk/menu.html
I would rather see a wall covered in good artwork than have it left blank. I don't like acts of vandalism, which some graffiti clearly is when it is unwanted and when tags and slogans are sprayed onto trains or bus shelters.

I think some graffiti can be good also. We see alot of bad graffiti here in the U.S. though. Most of it is gang related in some areas.

In the US, we have some very talented
artists who do amazing street murals with
graffiti and the city leaves it up.
Some local artists were hired to do a mural
for the city commemorating our history.
It's beautiful! Very street inspired.
I love the good stuff.

I totally agree with you. Graffiti can be good at times, and I have seen some graffiti on the wall which is extremely creative, gorgeous and has a message to be heard or sent.
However, I am in for those healthy graffiti, which is not having any anti racist slogans or something.
And the place where the graffiti is being made is important too. If it's done on public places and not legal to do that, I frown upon it.
But if there's an organizer giving these talented artists a bit of space to showcase their talents, then I'm all for it.

I wish the graffiti artists in America would do things that pretty,if they did I don't think anyone would mind. But over here the gangs are the main artists.

Montreal has a big graffiti problem and the city actually hired people to paint graffiti in designated locations and some of this stuff is really nice.

In Saint Louis, down by the Arch, there is a huge graffiti wall. It's painted over quite often but there are some very nice murals down there sometimes. Not many people know about it, even a lot of people in the STL really don't know about it. If ever here, I suggest you see it. I think it's good to have one though because it gives a place to express without being punished for it.

Yes, many of the graffiti artists are really good. I think it would be nice to see them do murals on the walls instead of the trash they display instead.

Yes it can be very inspiring to see beautiful works of art painted by "graffiti" artists, some are really and truly works of art and takes a lot of skill...it would be nice to see more artistic efforts rather than the usual graffiti type stuff. I understand in some sections of Los Angeles there are beautiful artworks there by graffiti artists

I do appreciate the work of talented graffiti artists. However, unfortunately most of the graffiti I see is just gang signs scribbled on private property.
I'm not sure how I would feel about visually pleasing graffiti on my own property. I guess if I really liked it, I wouldn't mind it too much. But I think if I wanted art on my property I would commission artists to paint what I wanted...

Yes, graffiti is a form of art and not all is bad, but if it is done without permission and on buildings or items owned by other people, it is illegal and should not be going own. It is true that what some people can do with a can of spray paint is amazing, however.
