How are the Gas Prices Where You Are?

United States

Hi, The gas prices here are going up! Today, I've seen it at $3.45 and $3.49. It is crazy! They are expecting it to go up to around $4.00 a gallon very soon! Will the cost of gas affect your summer vacation plans? I'm hoping to go to Myrtle Beach, SC this summer. It is about a 6-hour drive. I will definately need to save up for gas! There are some other places I hope to go to this summer as well. They won't be quite as long of a drive, but still will cost quite a bit with these gas prices!

Gas prices are about the same here as well. It will affect us as a whole. My kids play baseball and they travel to some games. Plus we live about thirty minutes from a walmart, and my husband works about thirty minutes from here as well. We have resorted to car pooling, and doing with out some things. Its almost like you have to get another job just to pay for gas.

It affects so many areas of our everyday lives. I mean, we drive almost everywhere we go and it is also causing food prices to go up because of the high cost of shipping.

Yeah, the high fuel prices are driving me crazy. I think it is due to our economy being in horrible shape. It is also due to the war in the middle east. I do not think I like this at all. But I think I will still manage.

Where I am in simi valley. The price that you pay for regular unleaded is about 3.89 per gallon. Diesel is up to about 4.34. That just pisses me off! Diesel is a by-product of gasoline. If you make gasoline, you get diesel. That is why when the first diesel engines came out, the price was so cheap. Now the price is so high, because almost everyone now has at least one diesel car at home. I used to work for the oil fields here in California. I do not know what the problem is. We have enough untapped or closed oil feilds around in the U.S.A to rival anyone(Saudi Arabia, Iraq). One of the things that I can figure, is the U.S is waiting till everyones oil is depleted before we open ours up. I have heard the stories that there is not much oil here. That is bullcrap. I have seen to much. The west and the east coast get hit harder, because we are the major import/export places for the U.S. The farther inland you get( toward mid U.S the cheaper the gas gets). Do not get me wrong. The gas prices are going up there too. It is just that if you live here, West or east coast. It seems cheaper there. It is crazy!

Yes, it is unbelieveable! I wish I could strike oil and have my own company! I would only charge like $1 a gallon! Someone told me this past weekend that there are places in Alaska for oil. Why not get more oil from this country? I don't understand how all this works.

Think about it. If we use up every-ones resources before we open ours. That would just make us more powerful than anyone else. The united states is just acting like we don't have the resources, When we do. it does not matter in the long run anyway. Unless we find more alternatives to gasoline. Sooner or later we will all run out.

Maybe if everyone can remember what deisel is to gas. Maybe we can get it back lower, like the way that it was!

It's the same prices here.. And once everything goes up due to the increase in fuel costs to deliver everything, etc.. the prices won't go back down, even if the fuel does! I like to fly home once a year, and I'm sure the trip will be costing more!

Yes it is affecting everything! The cost of groceries is going up! I hope and pray something is done before it gets completely out of hand and I'm not so sure it's not that way now!

I live in San Diego and our premium gas prices average over $4 a gallon right now. Our average price for regular unleaded is about $3.83 or somewhere close to it on 4/22/2008. I had a trip to Palm Springs set up for this month as my last hiking trip to the desert before it gets really hot. But, it's so expensive to drive up there right now and my hours at work have gone down. I just can't afford it right now. I may try to get out to the desert during thunderstorm season for some photos, but it's iffy right now.

Luckily, I don't need premium gas, but I can see it being $4 for regular by Memorial day. But, when I went out today, it has only gone up about 2 cents since I got gas last week, so hopefully it's starting to slow down.

Oh my gosh! So it is already over $4 there! That is awful! I believe everyone needs a vacation/getaway every year...esp those who work hard. So many people will not be able to do that until something happens with the prices!

My favorite town in the desert that I drove to frequently has hit $4.19 a gallon! They are always higher than everyone else. I rarely get gas there because I can usually get there and home on less than a tank of gas. And, while I am there, I usually walk around or ride my bike. But, I feel sorry for people who are living there full-time.

I was going to start a discussion about this too. Its around $3.43 here. I was wondering if anybody else is as worried about this as I am. I live in a rural area so I have to drive everywhere. Plus my husband is in sales and travels daily for a living...and long distances. I am really getting scared about this. Groceries are getting sky high too.

Yes it is a big concern. There are some small town/rural areas here where people live and they have to drive a big distance just to get to the store. I really feel for those who have to drive a long way to work! I was thinking a while back about getting an SUV because my boyfriend would like me to drive something bigger than I do (I drive a Nissan Sentra), but I can't afford to do that right now! My car is pretty good on gas for right now anyway!

Lucky you! The price or regular here is running between $3.49 and $3.60 with most at $3.57. Premium prices are $3.75 or higher. Diesel is at $4.50. It's crazy and I don't know how people are going to afford vacations at the rate things are going.

I don't understand the huge gap either. I went to Roanoke a couple of weeks ago, which is about 30 miles from where I live and the gas prices there were like 10 cents cheaper than where I live. Doesn't make much sense.

I just checked the gas prices in my area online and the high end for regular unleaded is $4.03 as of 4/21/2008. The low end is $3.76 a gallon. And where I usually get gas it is currently $3.85 the last I saw.

As of today: 6/12/08, the gas station down the street is at $4.09. I honestly don't complain about the gas prices because I can't control them. I need gas and that's all I can say. The prices will not stop me from going out...

The gas prices here (northeast pa) are up to about $3.54 a gallon! It makes me soooo angry. It is going to effect some of my plans this summer. I was planning a trip to MO which is a 16-20 hour drive. Because of gas being so high I cant come up with the money to go. I still plan to go to allentown to a themepark, but I really wanted to go to MO to see my friends. Oh well.

Yeah. It is really driving me crazy. I think it is because of the war. Our economy is in terrible shape right now. Maybe because of terrorism we have to deal with. I do not like this at all. But I just hope to manange alright.

You are lucky it is that cheap. In Oshawa, Ontario Canada we were paying $1.20 per litre the other day. That calculates out to $4.52 a US gallon.

I paid $4.29 last night with a 3 cent discount per gallon. Regular price was $4.32 a gallon. This is a Murphy's USA which are in front of most Walmart store. I've seen it up to $4.44 here in our area. It goes up every day! It's crazy. We didn't have a big vacation planned this year. However, we had planned on taking our travel trailer out on lots of weekend trips. I guess we will plan to stay closer to home with the price of gas.

Gas here at my cousins house in North Dartmouth MA it's $3.45 a gallon! It's outragious. I wish I could just walk or ride my bike to the store but it would be too hard to bring the food home with a bike! I cant wait for our PAYCHECKS to go up too.

It is disgusting- I can't believe that the government tax petrol to such a high degree. I know of people who don't bother getting jobs as it is often better to claim benefits than fork out costs for travel. The knock on effect is scary- the price of food and clothes go up too when this happens. I find the whole thing depressing, and chose not to upgrade my car as the cost of travel will be too much.

increase in gas prices are crazy here too. we use jeepney as our means of transportation (for those who don't own cars) and the fares sometimes fluctuate because of the rising gas prices. it's really frustrating.
