I think it started in Frankfurt, Germany, hence the original name of "frankfurter" but it caught on in America and became popular all over the place. "Franks" were originally sausage links served on a bun, if I remember correctly. They're good, whatever their history!

I rarely eat hot dogs anymore because I've struggled with my weight nearly my whole life. I love them, though, and I eat them when I go to special events such as church cook-outs or a county fair or something. I like them burned!

I saw a program on the History Channel called America Eats. One of the stories was about the hot dogs. They were originally called daschunds and later hot dogs. Check out the History Channel on line. It was an interesting story.
