I used to have a rice cooker and enjoyed it. But for the last several years I just do it the way my mother did. Boil water in saucepan, add rice (2part water 1 part rice) give a stir - cover and simmer for 20minutes. I purchased a small rice cooker for my son last year at Christmas (he was in a boarding school) and he loved it. He is heading off to university soon so I think I will be buying him another as he left his last one at the boarding house. He said he ate rice everyday and never grew tired of it. of course last year rice was a pretty inexpensive filling food, now the prices have jumped significantly.

I just use a regular saucepan with a lid on the stove top. I have an electric rice cooker but it's in the cabinet and I never think to use it.

My mom's japanese, so we have a bunch of japanese household items, one of which is a microwave rice steamer. It's shaped kind of like a regular rice cooker, but it has no power cord or anything and it's very easy to use. :]

In my opinion, different appliances cook different taste of rice.I prefer electric cooker and my family use electric cooker. I think the rice is sweet and hard cooked by electric cooker.Using pressure cooker the rice is more soft.I feel like hard rice.So i love electric cooker. For another reason,It's automatic and can time-lapse.so we don't to care of the electric cooker. When electric cooker is working,we can go out or watching TV at home.but the pressure cooker is not so convenient. In my opinion,it is so dangerous to use pressure cooker.the pressure cooker is easy to blast if you don't care of it.the sounds are big and noisy.I am afraid of using pressure cooker to cook rice. But it takes little time to cook rice and save electric. So if i gorget to cook rice at the right time,or it's late to use electric cooker,my family will also using pressure cooker.I used by my parents not me and my younger sister. I really afraid fo using pressure cooker.

I eat rice a lot. I cook it on top of stove in a pan with lid. Sometimes i add dried herbs like cilantro, parsley or chives. Recently i also added boullion and a little handful of mixed veggies.

My family perfer to use microwave oven to cook rice. Put the rice into a container, and filled with water (hot water suggest). Cook rice 20 mins by using medium heat twice and 5 mins interval between it. After it finished, plz keep it 5 mins before you eat it. :)

I cook my rice on the stove top in a regular pot with a lid. I have never bothered using a rice cooker before. I have thought about getting one, but I do not really make rice often enough to justify buying an appliance just to cook rice.

Hi chenpan. In my country too. We eat rice everyday and I use a normal pan. We fry the rice with seasoning before add the water, this way the most of the people in my country use a normal pan to make rice.
