Yet another "ugh" story and enough to make me post it too.

I guess its no crime then...
I mean flip the genders on this one and have it as a mylot discussion, or just talk overall. The discussion would have plenty of comments (rightly so). And on the same note with the reversed genders there'd be plenty of jail time. But not so here as usual. I'd be surprised if there was even moderate attention for this topic.
So is this a crime, or is the 14 year old "lucky"? Pfft, what nonsense. Its pretty much being said that its only a crime when it plays out with a certain gender scenario (and all others are not "crimes").

Ridiculous. I had a guy friend who felt he was raped by a girl at a party and I totally believed him while knowing full well if he told his friends they would give him a hard time about it.
Of course I also think the gender thing applies to abuse. I've had friends - guys who have been abused by women, emotionally - and physically. Guys who have been cheated on and keep going back to the girl. Everyone thinks in the other way around.
Society and popular culture abuse guys in insidious ways. Your story is one example. Movies on the same topic - guys who 'get with' older women are cooler. Even though in things like Valentine's day with commercials that say if you really love her you'll buy her a diamond. They never say if you really love him you'll blow two paychecks or more on a new flat screen tv. I know I could've said jewelery but I think this is romantic to a guy. I once bought a boyfriend an Xbox or PS2 or something when it first came out - waited in line for hours. I think this is romantic in a way. I think he preferred it to flowers and a diamond tennis bracelet. Although some guys go for that kind of thing.
Thank you for raising some awareness once again!
Missed your posts.

Cyn talked about it better than I did and I think you do a good job of it too Arte. And this item "Society and popular culture abuse guys in insidious ways." deserves bolding. Therefore... "Society and popular culture abuse guys in insidious ways." Ah there we go. I couldn't agree more with this.
On the other end I've not been able to keep up with newer developments due to work and my growing need for rest. But give me some time to get back into things... and pray there aren't too many thunderstorms!
Good seeing you Arte!

Do thunderstorms interfere with your work? Because otherwise I personally adore them. I'll "pray" there are none in your area though.
When I was going out with my ex who had been raped, I wished that I had known him at the time he'd been abused by that girl so I could "say" a thing or two to her. Although I am a pacifist. The law would never step up in a case like this.
Glad to see you're back.

I'm sorry, but why is this woman not in jail? Did the judge lose his mind or something. She's 22 and the kid is 14. HELLO! That's rape in any book and she should be in jail. Her personal problems shouldn't have anything to do with the fact that it's rape.

OK, the shallow male in me is think - where the hell was my 22-year old teacher who wanted to take advantage of me when I was 14? It's funny, when you're a guy you don't seem to see how serious things are especially when it comes to women who want to take advantage of you sexually. However, if a male teacher wanted to get close to me when I was at school I would have freaked out.

Thank you for that. And I did forget about addressing the personal problems.
How in the world that was a defense, I don't get.

FOR me the fact that it is a woman abusing a young boy is the reason she stayed out of jail, can you imagine the impact an atack on a 14 year old girl by a male school teacher? i cant imagine he would escape jail, can you?
Now, i have to be careful here, i am baned from entering Italy, i was kicked out for going topless one afternoon. Lol, im nothing to look at but i had a few males looking at me and a few of the wives complained, lol so i know how anal Italy can be
blessed be

Its a weird and confusing world Eska. Both things you bring up are good points. Prison doesn't look lightly on abuse (and plenty of male offenders don't end up so great if they end up in jail), thats another thing I didn't consider from earlier.
You've got my blessings too old chap.

To me rape is rape! No difference because of gender, age or marital status and all should be punished equally to the full extent of the law.

No argument. You said it all.
What you said should be put in bold.

So now I just went and read the second link you posted and I am still equally amazed. If you are a woman you can force yourself upon a 14yr old boy but if you are a man you can not sit next to or look at a 55yr old woman? I implore you what is the world coming to?

We do not get to know much about this case barring few statement of facts. And it is rather difficult to comment/judge the gravity of this case with the available information as it may not be impartial. But I think the story is shocking and shaking. I appreciate emotional flare may provoke someone to commit wrongs momentarily. Still with a 14yrs old boy - this seems to be too much, and it must be treated as a crime.

There is a double standard here. If a guy had done this , we would be in jail and people would be looking to kil him. He would have ruined the girl's life. But in this case , I guess in some circles the teacher has made the guy's life.

if it was due to mental problems, then the 22year old teacher cannot be tried for rape (because she is mentally disturbed and laws protect those that like that from being tried even from heinous crimes). If it is proven that she was indeed having mental problems then I would have to agree with the decision that she be put into counseling instead.
though, the 14year old should also be put into counseling to make sure the experience doesn't traumatize him (does it?)
the most important thing to remember is that it is NOT rape if one party gave consent. if the other party is a minor, its considered seduction even if the other party gave consent.

Ok number 1= Ewwwwwww!! Who in the heck would even consider a 14 year old boy sexually as an adult? Ewwwwwwwwww....Maybe it's just me but I like men not boys.
While there is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior, kids nowadays, are not as innocent as we would like them to be. He was probably lucky to his friends and bragged about it. But it is a crime and should be. It's just disgusting that this woman had to look at a 14 year old boy when she could at least go find an 18 year old. The age difference isn't that much but he is a minor and considered a child. It's just gross on every level.

Hello programmer,
You have certainly posted a very good discussion here. That makes me very scared now, for I'm not sure on which women have the intentions to rape me, . Just kidding.
But truth be told, it is rather not easy being a guy nowadays. You get the "He molest me" so easily, if you just so much accidentally brush on her thighs or "upper part of the body". And to make things worst, like the case you mentioned in this discussion. I think that the female "raper" should be judged the same way as a man does. Not sure why, but I wouldn't want this incident to cause a lot more of rape cases of men.
Take care and have a nice day. ;)

I believe that regardless of who you are or being male or female should not matter. If you rape a child the punishment should be the same. Several years ago two women held a man down and raped him, nothing was done because the police did not believe two women could hold a man down if he didn't want it. You should have seen these two women they had to have been over 200 pounds and he was maybe 130. He ended up moving because of all the taunting. Wrong is wrong!!
