Do you smoke in your house?

Do any smokers out there smoke in the house? My husband hung out with an old friend the other day and his friend just lit up a smoke in the house. We thought that was absurd because when we hung out with him way back in college, he stepped outside for a smoke. It just seems your whole house would smell like an ashtray even with the doors and windows open. If I were a smoker, I wouldn't be doing it in the house and no one else would be allowed to either. New York's policy is no smoking in the bars and I love it. I am from Michigan and I used to work in a smokey bar. It was terrible and I had to take a shower each time I came home from work. It wasn't just cigarette smoke that stunk up my clothes however. I think cigars really stink things up a whole lot worse. Add onto the smoke the smell of yeast from the beer brewing. When my husband would come and hang out, he would also get the smell on his clothes and he wasn't there the whole day! Holy crap, I smelled terrible.

Both my hubby and I smoke and we have four children and so we do not smoke in the house as it is not fair on them, we take it outside, whatever the weather!! We have a big brolly to use when it is bad weather and big thick coats for if it cold and so we do not mind! Any visitors that we may get that smoke also have to go outside, I hate the smell of stale smoke it is horrible and so smoking outside also cuts down the smell on my clothes too. I am gearing myself up to quit again before long as well so if the smell is out of the house it makes it a bit easier.

When I was growing up, no one was ever allowed to smoke in our home, my dad was very strict on that. No one in my immediate family smoked. Probably after they went out on their own, but am not really from a family who smokes. I had two brothers who smoked, but never around our home. That was after they left home and went on their own.

My husband and I are both smokers and yes we smoke in our home. Most of our visitors smoke also so it does not bother them. When we go to my parents home, however, we smoke outside because neither of them smoke and we respect that. My mother-n-law smokes and she smokes in her apartment and lets everyone else do so too. I do think that if you are at someones home that does not smoke you should at least ask first before you light up. It is just disrespectful to light up without their permission.

I smoked in my house for YEARS and had no idea how dirty and smelly it was until I had to clean it before I sold it. I ended up hiring 2 people to scrub walls and ceilings (which were yellow). Smoke residue was even in my pantry, around the door casings, inside my lamps, all over my windows, even in the basement where no one smoked. I now live in a smoke free home and the only smell I have to deal with is cat urine. Even that is so much better than smoke!!!!
