Have you read the book Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown? Have you watched the movie? The Da Vinci Code is a very controversial book. It affected the faith of people that I know. Some say that the book is fictional and others believe the content of the book. Some of its contents are Mary Magdalene and Jesus having a love affair and it also says a lot of things about the Holy grail. What do you think about the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Did it shake your faith? Do you believe what is in the book?

No, not at all. I watch the movie and then read the book curious about the attention the media is giving into it. But then it never did shook my faith - I guess because my religious belief is so clear having grown in a family of catholics and entering my whole education in religious or catholic schools and universities. After watching the movie I was more excited about the places in they show in the movie especially the La navue in paris and all those gorgeous places. But on the controversial book and the idea it want to express i believe its just a media hype and even concluded that the whole thing was indeed fictional.

I am glad that it did not shake your faith. I can relate to you. I also studied in a Catholic school from preschool to college. We are all Catholics in the family. I consulted my Christian living teacher regarding the book. She told me that it is fictional and that I should not believe what it contains. It was all rumors. Let us keep in mind that books are written for profit. Maybe the author made use of controversy for more readers and more profit.

It didn't shake my faith at all. I thought it was an excellent movie. My mother forbade me to see it (I'm 44 yrs old). Needless to say she was angry with me when I did. But I never could understand why people who are steadfast in their beliefs can be so fearful of different ideas and viewpoints. On the same note, The Passion of Christ not only didn't move me, I was terribly disappointed in the film. It was a total waste of time.

I had the book but never read it but I have seen the movie and thought it was great and very thought provoking..there was a lot of interesting ideas and though it was fiction I think there could be a lot of reality to it...Did it shake my faith? Not at all...I'm Pagan for starters and secondly movies just dont do that to me..I've also seen Passion of the Christ for example and it didnt change or shake me either...

Have to say had no impact on my beliefs - can't say I even like the book that much, just didn't seem to flow as much as other books on a similar theme. There are plenty of books out there questioning the role of the church in organised religion. they are though fiction so why should it impact on someones faith?

i havent read the book but i have seen the movie. its a good movie. it really makes a person think; be it fictional or a fact. my father never wanted me to watch the movie because he has so strong a belief in the church. but it made me think, if he blieves in the church so much, why not see the movie and at least criticize it because it isnt true after all right?. hahaha.. the movie didnt shake my faith at all. although i am catholic, i never really bought into everything the catholic church says. maybe because i need a little bit more information on how it came to be, and the way how our religion is being answered in churhes or in schools is just not enough for me. and for me, with the whole 'time of jesus' thing im never really sure of it because its a piece in history. and how was information relayed before writing? it was through word of mouth. and with 'word of mouth' sometimes informations that goes on and on can sometimes be changed or vague. but it all depends on you and your personal religion. if you believe that the da vinci code is real then your persuaded to believe the contents of the movie is really true. if you believe that what you feel is right and the movie is just based on theories then good for you right. either way it all depends on what people think about the movie and what they feel about their religion.

no it did not shake my faith at all. and i think it shouldn't affect anybody because we should stick to what we believe in. although the book and the story is really persuasive, it should just be treated as means of entertainment and not the real truth itself.

i didn't even bother to read the book at all... and i think if i did, i don't think it will shake my faith anyway as i have a strong background in my religion... and my pastor always tells us in his preaching what is the right and wrong thing and to make the right decision... so i think i will be fine even if i read the book... if i am not sure about something, i always go back to my pastor and ask him questions...

To be honest I have never read the book or watched the movie. Though I would like to. A friend of mine has it so I will probably borrow it off her. I've heard some really interesting things about it. I don't expect it to really challenge my faith however. There are always arguments going around trying to discredit the bible. I've looked at them and to be honest found no reason to question my faith from them. The story of Jesus and Mary Magdalene having an affair is nothing new and has been circulating for centuries. As is another one that indicates they married and had children and that Jesus was never crucified. So am I a 'bad' Christian for wanting to see or read this story... No, just an open minded one. Perhaps it will challenge my faith... If it does I will be a stronger person for it.

All I can say is that if people are shaken in their faith by reading a book or watching a film the faith cannot have been very strong to begin with! Every time I turn on the factual news shows or read a paper about some of the dreadful crimes being committed or another bloody pointless war somewhere, that's what shakes my faith and makes me wonder what the world is coming to. As long as there have ben people they have told stories to entertain and to inform. Don't think that's going to change anytime soon.

Nope, it did not. I thought it was a good book to be turned into a movie. I read the book before the film was made. Actually, when I was reading the book, I thought that it will be a good movie but it will be prone to attacks especially from the clergy. The book offered something to think and talk about, and boy it did achieved those two! I was even dumb founded when the priests here in our country, i.e. the Philippines, wanted to ban the showing of the film. But it's already too late, many have read the book. Now I'm waiting for the Angels and Demons movie (if they are going to make it into film)
