I know for a fact that yield means slow down then proceed with caution. Stop means the tires on the vechiel must be completetly still. I know this because a very nice policeman explained it to me when i was about 22yrs. old. I have Never forgotten.

Well ya heard of a California Roll? That's when ya get to the stop sign nothing is coming and so you proceed. Not a good thing in intersections that have a high kill record. I know stop means stop not yield and I am wrong.

Hi, cjgrooms. I always will make sure that I slow down as soon as I see an stop sign up ahead of me. I don't want to take any chances slowing down once I see the stop sign, if I do that, I will risk slamming on breaks which can be very scary.

I can't understand why some people wait until the last second to hit the breaks. I had rather come to a gradual stop than get whip-last!

I always stop, why take chances. Driving is a privledge, why abuse it? Tickets are too expensive.

Most of the time I stop completely, as I figure that if they wanted me to slow down, they would have put a yield sign there.

Yes I do come to a complete stop, cjgrooms. However, there is only one stop sign in town that really should be a yield sign. I usually never come to a complete stop on this one. Shame on me!

Hi There! I guess the honest answer to this for me is that it depends on the situation. If there is absolutley nothing coming I tend to just slow down instead of doing a complete and full stop. If it is in the city I basically always do a full stop. The consequences of making one bad judgement call or just too devastating not to. cheers,

Oh, I always have to make a complete stop. I remember my mom as a very careful driver. One day, in a rush, she left in a little 'house coat' to take my brother to school. The officer who pulled her over said she rolled through a stop sign. My mother was mortified to be caught so casually dressed, and I never forgot that story.

Wait, Let me clarify something. If my mother is in the car with me and we were in the only car in GA. I would stop at ALL of the stop signs.

I always stop. With the exception of the stop sign at the end of our dirt road. I slow down, look and keep going. But I believe that's the only one I ease through.

I think most people sees a stop sign as a suggestion.
