many mylotters confused what happen to their star ratings, some argued about it why their stars and rating drop. My stars also drop up to 5 points but it doesn't bother me instead we must be consistent on our post not the ratings. it only create dispute and misunderstanding. will all mylotters don't rate so that our ratings freeze, maybe some agree but some will not. ratings is in the hand of every mylotter so either they like our post or not and rate us negative we can't make any solution of it because that is the mystery up here on mylot. all we have to do now is keep on posting never mind the ratings. will you agree?

i agree as long as those stars doesn't affect our posts and our earnings as well. so i guess there's no harm if my star went down

It is nice to have a good star rating because it shows that your posts are appreciated by other members here, but you are right that it should not be taken too seriously. The main purpose would appear to be to encourage members to post responsibly in order to maintain a good star rating, but it does not always work that way. The ratings depend not only on the quality of your post but also on who reads and marks it because we all have different opinions of what is good or bad.

I think its quite comical, when I read the rants of those myLot veterans crying about their falling Stars. The strange part is those who cry the loudest are those who have been here the longest! I've maintained all along that a low star rating is a sign of a good myLotter. The reason is- when you have a 10 rating and are worried about losing it, you are not going to respond to a controversial post. Do you think this attitude is good for myLot? I wear my low star rating as a Badge of Honor! Because it shows that I am a good myLotter.

I didn't know what the star rating was until I read your discussion! I think it is important to offer the best post you can, and not take any ratings too seriously. There will always be people who don't agree with what you say. You can't please everybody all of the time!

If it does not really affects our earnings. Nothing to worry about it. Though, its also nice if we have 10 points for it signifies that we are doing good with mylot as to the ratings made by other members, or simply being able to reply to a particular comment well.

It doesn't bother me if my star goes up or down. As long as I did my best, it's alright with me. As long as I'm enjoying posting comments, posting a new topic for discussion, meeting friends, it's ok with me. I agree with you, just keep posting and posting never mind the ratings.

when i hit 100 post and i got a start for the very first time...my star rate was was an 8 but after a week it went 7 then after two days it became 10. i was so happy at that time then the next morning it went to 9 and stayed on 9 from june last year till now. I dont think its important and i dont its even accurate so why bother making a fuzz out of it right.

Even though it hurts to fall from the top, I agree that I'll keep posting anyway, and pay more attention to content, less to rating

Now please do not beoffended by what I have to say but i notice that all the people who are just a little bothered by the pointsdropping are all peoplewho have star ten or star nines. Now I also had a ten until a week or so ago then someone minused me down to an nine then eight and in two days to a six.now that is just plain wrong. its so easy to be nonchalant when you have a ten or a 9 but I have feelings and I am still doing the same quality work I did as a ten so why was I penalized as I never disrespected anyone nor did I flame anyone and always have followed MyLot rules. Mylot did answer my inquiry and told me they were looking into it but so far nothing has changed.I will keep postingas I love MyLot but I am discouraged a tad.

I agree entirely julyteen! The way I look at it, the star rating is just a popularity contest anyway. An unfortunately it is open to abuse, both positive and negative.
I think the negative is probably worse than the positive. Where people get annoyed with another user and 'stalk' them in order to negatively rate their posts. Some even go as far as to ask their friends to do the same.
I think people with a lower number of posts are more vulnerable to this type of abuse since I think it works as the overal percentage of positive ratings for the number of posts so the less posts you have the more likely you are to be affected by this type of behaviour.
Personally,my rating isn't that important. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud to have a 9 star rating, but that's just a bonus. I will admit that when I see someone with a rating of only a 3 or 4 star it makes me wonder what has happened to give them such a low rating. But that doesn't mean that I will take their posts less seriously or anything.
