It just dawned on me this morning, my 3 month old is teething. He has been miserable for weeks, it's nearly impossible to calm him down. I have also noticed him chewing on his fingers. I don't know why it took me so long to figure it out.
He did his typical fussy routine this morning. I tried this and that and everything I could think of and he continued to fuss. Finally while changing his diaper I noticed yet again he was chewing on his fingers and finally calm. I looked at his gums, and sure enough, there's the teeth right beneath the surface, so close I can see the white, but they haven't broken through yet.
No wonder the poor little man is miserable. I don't remember my other children teething quite this early.

wow that really is early as many have also said. there's a gripe water here that is said to be good for their gums. we usually give that.
you can also cool your baby teether in the refrigerator, not the freezer as you know. that will also help.
some children will give trouble when they're teething. i hope it'll go smoothly for you. best of luck.

I haven't actually tried anything to soothe his pain yet. He is only just beginning to grasp for things, so he would not be able to hold a teether in his mouth himself. I could do it for him, but it's hard to type that way LOL! I have finally gotten him calmed down, but maybe later I will try some things if he gets fussy again.
None of my other children were really very fussy teethers, I only knew they were teething when a tooth showed up. But every child is different.

I think that most parents would not think it was teething so early. My daughter and my son were both 4 months old when they got their first teeth. I was really surprised with my son, but when my daughter came around I knew to think of it since my son had teethed so early. Now that you know what it is that is making him so miserable I hope he is a little more calm.

My other children were relatively early as well, around 4-5 months, I just wasn't thinking of it this soon. I assumed it was possibly growing pains or something of the sort.

Try him on bonjela, its got a better taste than normal teething gels and even though my son never had teething problems it seemed to me that it made the teeth come through quicker. Maybe it was just me though. But teething rings are a big help to as when my sons tooth finaly came through the first time he is a finger bitter also and one day he bit into to finger a little to hard and you can imagine what happened.

My daughter is teething at the moment too. She is 5 months old and you can see her firat tooth coming through. She had one day when she was really ratty and miserable and we have her calpol. She has been fine since with it so far. until the next tooth anyway lol. All babies get teeth at different ages. My son was 7 months when he first got his first tooth.

aww poor baby hes so young. My babies didn't get teeth until they were 8 1/2 months old which I am happy about. Thats just too young to go through that pain.

Yeah, most babies develop at different ages that we don't think about the obvious. I had the same thing happen to me. I felt like bopping myself in the forehead and saying duh. But when they are young like that you don't think about it. It's good that you figured it out though, I had to have someone tell me.

My baby also started teething early; at about two months. We were concerned about the massive drooling she was doing but the doctor told us it was only teething. It seems like she's been teething non-stop since then and it took months for those first two to erupt.

lol aww My sophia got her two bottom teeth at four months. Shes now 7 months and the top two are cutting in I'm like oh my goodness. Just keep the baby orajel handy. She hates it so I have to stick the binky in her mouth afterwards, and I keep a teether cool in the fridge.I know you feel so bad for the little things!Good luck!
