Prices are soaring here in South Africa. Out of interest sake I would like to know what you pay for a loaf of white bread - a loaf of brown bread - and a litre of milk? Please use the link below to convert to South African Rand for me. Do you pay more for sliced bread too? Is your milk bottled in glass or cardboard cartons or in plastic sachets too www.ex.com

I'll tell you in Australian prices first and then do a conversion =) (Oh and was the site you meant to put up XE.com?) AUD: I normally buy 9 grain wholemeal bread of a particular brand that my grandma used to get when I was a kid, which costs around $3.50, and is sliced. I could buy the "homebrand", which is normally $1.99, but my bread is one thing I'm particular about. Milk, we use a lot of usually, so we buy long life, which costs us $1.10 for full cream, and $2.20 for soy or rice milk. ZAR: The bread I buy is approximately 24.8ZAR, And milk is 7.8 - 15ZAR I get my milk in the UHF Long Life cartons, which are some sort of plasticcy cardboard. If I were buying the "brand" milk from the fridge section of the shops, I'd be looking at around 15ZAR, or $AUD2.50

Oops sorry blonde moment yes www.xe.com. I only buy the low GI bread which is so full of seeds and so much more healthier than plain white or brown bread.

WOW that is expensive! Here we pay no more than R6.50 (about 35.35INR?) for a loaf of sliced bread. Milk the best brand would hit you about R8 (42.28 INR)

I live in Pennsylvania, USA. I pay around $2.20-$2.50 US dollars for a loaf of bread, white or brown and $4.50 for a gallon of milk. Prices have been steadally going up recently. Our loaves of bread are already sliced. They come in a plastic bag and our milk comes in a plastic gallon jug. ~May The Kisses Of An Angel Cover And Protect You Always~ Copper

Yes we do buy milk by the gallon. 4 liters is equal to one gallon. Its actually cheaper to buy it buy the gallon. My kids and hubby will drink 2 gallons a week so I know it wont go to waste buying it that way. ~May The Kisses Of An Angel Cover And Protect You Always~ Copper

we pay $1.19 for a loaf of cheap bread, bought at Walmart, which is the walmart brand, and than our milk for the name brand is $5.99 for a gallon! prices on things here in the United States are rediculous! it's high everywhere i think. rediculous too, isn't it? How's ppl going to live nowadays? heck, i can remember back 20 years ago that bread was like 0.89 for a loaf! Now? over a dollar, at least for the low brand names on the bread. god, it's awful!

After reading another post and seeing that most of you buy milk in gallons and not litres...what you paying for the gallon is not bad at all..roughly the same as what we would pay for a gallon here
