Use something to help a little child remember who you are

My niece lives in another province. It's like a 5 hour drive between us. She has a son now aged 3 and we barely get to see them. In the past, when they did get to visit us, it took a day or so for the little one to relax and come to us without crying for his mom or dad. For the last year or so, I have got him singing laa laa laaaaaa laa laa laaaaa la la la la laaaaa! Now when they phone and put him on the line, he instantly recognizes my voice and points to my picture they have of me in their home. Our visits with each other have been so much more relaxed since then because the child no longer sees us as a stranger or someone he vaguely remembers.
