It has been drummed into me that I need at least 8 glasses of water a day. During the day I may drink altogether about 3 glasses. Come night time or over weekend, when I am on the internet - that's when I make up or go over the daily recommended amount. I tend to drink more water while I am on the computer than when doing anything else. Our water out the tap is safe so a quick jog to the kitchen every 20 mins or so is nothing. I dont drink coffee or coke at all. I have a cup of tea in the morning and maybe one after dinner at night, otherwise its only tap water at night and maybe bottled water while I am out travelling around during the day.

I tend to easily drink 8 glasses of water a day. I'd say I drink at least half a gallon of water every day... and three or four more if you include the water used in coffee. I'm always in the kitchen getting a drink of water.

I was told by a doctor not to include the water used in coffee, tea etc as that was not pure water to flush the kidneys out with. The chemicals therein made your body work harder to rid the chemicals forcing your body to need more flushing.

Well, I drink at least 2 liters of water per day... and probably another liter of coffee (my original post made it sound like I drank 2-3 gallons of coffee LOL)
So obviously, I do drink enough pure water to flush my system.

Over the years we have been told to drink a minimum of 8, eight ounce glasses of water per day. Now of course this is for those at ideal weight. They state if you are over weight you need to add one glass for every ten pounds.
Now though they are stating you shouldn't drink too much water. That too much can cause problems as well. I wish they would just make up their minds. My thought is, if you drink when you are thirsty then that is all that matters. If you listen to your body and go by it you'll be fine. Your body more then anything knows what it needs.

I aint too sure about the body telling me what it needs...I forget to eat for a whole day get into bed and think..oh i havent eaten today,,I can go a whole day without drinking anything. Cant tell me that is my body saying 'ok fine you dont need anything today"
I have to force myself to eat and drink most of the time.

I am big mouth I know but when I do do this I do get my daily quota of water in.
The plastic bottles coke, water etc are bought in are ...here 500ml bottles. Fill them up the night before and keep them handy..a good way to measure how much you have consumed during the day but also carrying a bottle around with you, encourages you to swig at the bottle all the time.

This time I could say I drink about 2 liters or more water everyday. This started when I got diagnosed with some crystals on my urine, meaning I got few small stones in my kidney so I need to drink a lot of water to clear those out and avoid having stones again in the kidney. I observed it is very effective.
So to help keep ourselves healthy, let us drink water more...

I have never suffered with kidney stones. I think it stems from childhood and parents that did not believe in kids drinking coke etc all the time. We were made to drink water or a cup of tea. Coffee was only for adults. We were only allowed a coke etc if we went out to eat or were at a birthday party etc.

Drinking at least 8 glasses of water everyday is good to your health. Especially during summer we need enough water in our body. Because we have lot of outdoor activities like going to the beach, family trips, picnics, reunion & a lot more. Remember water is better than softdrinks.

I really need to be making sure I am at least drinking the 8 glasses a day, but most of the time I don't even make it near that.
I don't like tap water at all because I am forever seeing on the news all these places in our state who are on "Do NOT drink advisories" and to be honest, that scares me out of the tap water.
they usually are saying something leaked into the water or some other issues, now we are being told there are a lot of antibiotics in the water here so that's another reason I try not to.
I usually buy bottled water and try to remember to take that with me when I leave or drink it around the house, but a lot of times I am drinking apple juice or milk and the water doesn't even cross my mind most of the time.
I think maybe I need to put reminders to myself through the house to drink my water so I will remember lol.

I an not stand water, there is nothing to it, and find it really hard to get y daily supply, but I found some thing called Crystal Light, little packets that you pour into the bottled water and it gives it a fruit flavor that makes it bare able to drink. We have horrible tap water here so we buy bottled water by the case.

Hi gratitude, Most people don't drink enough water. As you say, we need at least eight glasses each day. There was a time when I always tried to drink that much, but most day now, I'm lucky if I drink five or six. Guess I'll have to get working on it. Blessings.

jeez, I hardly drink 1 glass, let alone half of one. Water just never seemed that important to me. Besides doesn't everything have water in its ingredients?

8 glasses is equal to 2 liters, as one glass is consider 250 ml.
My daily water intake varies dependending on the day, a great factor that increases the amount of water I drink is if I go out to eat at lunch or if I eat something brought from home. When I got out to eat I get some ice water and drink one or 2 big 500 ml glasses (mostly if the food is spicy). If I bring my own food I usually just stop by the fountain on my way back to class and drink not even 100 ml... At home I drink about 3-5 glasses. On low water days I can drink as little as 4-5 glasses.
On normal days I easily reach the 8 glasses per day quota.
It is wierd how during basically the same day I can drink 4 or 8 glasses of water with no real physical difference felt.
