am happy you did not loose your dad in all those accidents i was also fortunate because the second one was bad enough, the whole driver passenger side was wiped out but lucky me we had a comprehensive insurance on the car the driver was not just drunk but he was badly wounded,i never got even a scratch

I got my provisional license a bit after I turned 17. I am planning on actually starting to learn to drive in June, so I will be 17 when I start learning, therefore probably 18 when I pass hopefully.

good luck to ya Elixiress. i hope that you do pass your test that you've gotta take when it comes time to. i got mine years ago, but failed the written test twice i think. i can remember that day like it was yesterday. i was so upset after that i learned that i failed the test and i was bashing myself down in front of my mother and was saying that i was going to give up, that i'd never be able to pass that test. but luckily for her in having good faith in me, she talked me to re-take the test again, but study hard the next time to be able to pass it. and so, that's what i did, and i passed the written test. the driving test was a breeze, except i just had to get use to the car itself. which i did after i took the driving test. lol

Glad you resat it. I think I should be okay with the theory test, because I have done the practise ones before with various older people, who have took their tests and haven't done too bad considering never being in a car. I am more scared with the actual driving, because once I do something wrong, everything else tends to go wrong.

manual car? i never did learn how to drive them things. i always wanted to though. But, my g/f's daddy, and his friend say that it is so easy to learn how to drive a stick. i still haven't tried neither yet. i'd like to someday though. i think it would be cool to drive one with a stick shift, and than drive down the road. LOL Kinda reminds me like a race car.

I was eighteen before I got my license, even though I could have had it when I was sixteen or seventeen. I took drivers ed in school. I learned to drive with my dad and my brother. As if that weren't enough, my mom sent me for private driving lessons. By the time I had completed all of that, I was eighteen. When my license came in the mail my mom said 'I can't believe they gave you a license!'

wow, you had to force your pop to teach you how to drive? Now, wait a minute. I think i did have to force my dad to teach me. I wanted him to teach me so bad, since i was close to him. But, he did let me drive one time, and that one time was the last time! LOL In a way, it makes me sad though, but, in another way, it makes me laugh. For what reason i don't know why. But, my mom was there to help me get my DL. and than when i did, my silly dad calls and is excited about it and says,"Heard you got your big DL boy!" at the time i wanted to say," WTF Do you think? you think you got the right to say that? D@MN YOU!" LOL but i didn't. I figure that he must've gotten nervous to teach me after he seen me screw up that one time, and thought,"Well, let his mommy teach him. Maybe she can teach him better than i can." funny though.

I first learned driving at the age of 24. Under the coaching of the instructor the car moved forward and this really amazed me. I found it was really exciting to drive a car on the road. I had got the driving license after two months later. But that time I didn’t have car yet and I occasionally drove my brother’s car.

I took driver's ed in high school, and got my learner's permit when I was 16. My regular driver's license when I was 18. My oldest daugher was driving when she was 17, without a driver's license, but we lived in a rural community and she only drove from our house to school and back, but she thought it was really cool that I was letting her drive to school.lol

i guess that it is better to learn on your own. that way you won't tick people off of the mistakes that you may make while learning. some people just don't have that patience to teach others, and even though the learner cannot help it, if they make mistakes. Heck, nobody's perfect. But, that's the way it goes i guess with some others that are trying to learn.

I learned how to drive after I finished high school, when i was 17 years old i think. although i have a license and have my own car, i dont really fancy driving that much. i prefer to be the passenger as opposed to the driver haha!

i know. i sometimes wish that i didn't have to drive all the time. i wish sometimes that my g/f knew how to drive, so she could give me a break. she's so scared though to learn how to drive, and afraid that she'll wreck the car or something. i tell her that it isn't that hard to learn, and once you learn it, it's a breeze from thereon. it's almost like you already know how to walk, and you don't have to think to walk.. you just get up and do it. it's the same principal as driving. but, you can't tell her anything.

OIC in your country the minimum age is 18? HMM, different but understandable. Here in the United States, we can get our license at the age of 16 after we pass the written and driving test. at least that's what it was when i got them. LOL Nah, it's still the same here though like it was 20 some odd years ago.

hi sir_bobby88, i wish you the best of luck when you do take your test soon. don't be scared, and just concentrate well and you'll be alright in the long run. that was my problem, was concentrating on it, and not getting nervous during the testing. i've got a band nerve problem where i'll let the nervousness take control, more than me taking control over it.
