I was just wondering why my stars are lowered and they continue to stay there because i think that i had a pretty good rating and it was like last week it just started going down all at once like over a two day period or something like that and it hasn't gone back up any...i was wondering if anyone had had that kind of a problem before and why do people feel the need to lower our stars...i have heard of some people doing it just to be mean..do you think that this is true and has it ever happened to you?

Yes, something similar has happened to me before. I had my rating drop by a lot all at once, and then it came back up just a little bit, then it has been stuck there ever since. I'm not really sure why it's so easy for the ratings to drop so quickly and then it seems almost impossible for them to come back up again. Lately I have just gotten so that I don't even really worry about the star rating anymore. I have also heard of people trying to lower the rating just to be mean, so I figure the rating is really worthless anyway if it isn't being used for the right reasons.

it is disheartning for anyone to want to be mean by rating people negative and still claim to be their friend, does such a person think that if he rates peopel down it increases his own star rating?well in case you discover who that person is ,delete him from your friends lists with the speed of light and please share the username so we can all block his actions, thanks

jhl930 check your friends list and see if you have anyone who has only one or two posts then if so delete this person. I just did that and my star rating went up one point immediately. some person with just one or two points is evidently our troll or trolls and seems to be working from within.I hated to delete anyone but these trolls should be stopped at once.

Hello jhl. I have the same case. My mylot reputation used to 99/100 and later dropped to 98/100 and now it is 97/100. I have not exact idea about this. I had 99/100 for a very long time and I was trying and still am trying to reach 100/100 mylot reputation some day with luck and my hard and decent work.

I've had it happen...three times.
Either you get trolls that just hate you, or trolls via friends list, or members who are using the rating system wrong, or the system is being manipulated elsewhere.
If the star system wasn't broken I'd be a 10 easily. Doubt it? My profile is right there... you or anyone else can check best responses and discussions.
As a bonus here is a response to another discussion about this problem (#15)

I have had my star go up and down so often I don't pay attention to it anymore. I was inactive for 3 months and when I came back to mylot I saw my star go from a 99/100 to a 80/100. I have now been active just about the whole month of June and it has only gone up 1 point to a 81. I am not going to pay attention to it anymore since it doesn't really mean anything anyways, according to Crash we don't get more money or anything when we have a high rating.

It happened to me too and a lot of people here in myLot. I have been a consistent 100 for several weeks and then when these things have happened, my stars went to a low 66% only. I felt bad of course but I had to deal with it well with composure. I tried not to look at it and pay attention to it as it does not really show who I am and how I am in this site but I just continue to post good ones as well as make quality responses. I am just surprised to see my star today has gone up to 89% and I'm happy now. As long as I have many friends here and continue to make a difference, I know what kind of person I am and would not be affected as such as its objective. Continue to enjoy, post and respond here in myLOt.

I am still not sure how this star ranking works. I thought if you post frequently and your post is in good quality, your ranking will raise. But that seems to be not the case after reading your post. If make me feel even more confused, I am not sure whether this star ranking thing is usefult then~ However, it seems that I have to be aware of some mean ones.

my advice to you is that you should continue to ignore the stars because they don't affect your earnings after all. people are giving you a - that makes your star go down, or maybe you're also a victim of a troll that they're talking about. i also happened on me, my star went down to 89 and good thing that my star went up a bit
