My husband and I have been together for the last 5 years and before that I lived by myself and loved it I never had to put the seat down. He was good for the first 2 years, ( in my mind house broken ) and then it all went out the window, now when I get up in the middle of the night I have to turn on the light to see if it is up or down, which wakes up the dogs and then they have to go out and lord help me if I dont stop my stream to let them out. if not I get a wet spot on the carpet. ok enough of my ranting heres my question: Why is it that men cant just sit to pee???? They sit to do other things and pee at the same time so why not all the time.?? I'll admit it I can pee standing up too, but do I ? NO, why because its cleaner. How many men have acctually had to clean up after themselves.

To be honest in my mind all men stood to pee. When I met my fiance I found out otherwise as their was one time that we were conversing and he wanted me to follow him so that he could continue to talk to me, so I did. When he sat down, I blurted out "You pee sitting down?" It was an amazement to me, to see him sit down. He never does stand up to pee either, and his mother was the one that taught him how to go to the bathroom, so I see why he does pee sitting down.

Good for him and his mum. Thank god for a good mother... think about it, its less for you to clean up later.

None, that's why they have wives! Men are spoiled by their mothers who clean up after them and never have to do it themselves because they marry women who will do it for them. They really don't even think there is anything wrong with their habits. Ever sat on that open seat in the dark? YIKES!!!

Welcome to the world of "normal" males, spoiled one. I've never had the pleasure of a considerate husband who would actually sit. Hahaha Thank you for B.R.

Well I don't know why they don't sit down. Maybe it's because it was how they were taught. It could be it's easier then having to drop the drawers and sitting. Right now my brother lives with us and he puts it down mainly because there are three women here to him. If it was the reverse, three men to one woman I would expect to have to put it down. If it's no clear majority then I think you just have to deal with checking each time.

Haha! I know that this is a serious topic but it is still a little funny. I too find my toilet seat up %50 of the time. I also have two little boys and another boy on the way. I guess I would rather put the seat down myself verses them leaving it down and peeing all over the toilet seat. I guess I have just gotten used to it the same way they have gotten used to raising it. Now if they where peeing all over the toilet then yes I would get a little mad.

look at the size of the stream, would it really matter if it was closed in for another 2 inches? I mean really its a pin hole and they are supposed to be abble to hit that why cant they pee with it down and then clean after themselves.? I know why, its because that if they lift the lid and dribble a bit then all they have to do is put down the seet and "Whola" it never happened and they dont have to deal with it.- I'ts not thier job.

My man sits down to pee. In grade school their teacher demanded they did. I just love her To this day all men from that district sit down to pee. My man has had to clean up after other men that is not as well trained as him. he just loathes it.

Good for him and you. my husband just came in and I told him what I wrote and he said the only reasond that he lifts the lid is because I wont let him pee in the sink, he is 6 foot something and the toilet is too short so thats why he misses. Boy what it wouldn't be like in his brain for the day. and I wish he had to clean up after himself sometime.

maybe he need some kind of stool to kneel on? I'd make him clean the bathroom for a while. In my experience that is the only thing that helps in situations like these. Hope he will improve on this.

i too have the same problem as you... i fond my toilet seat is up most of the times i have to use the toilet... so i tell my hubby that he better learns to put the seat down or else i will scream at him everytime he does that... it is getting much better now... he tends to forget once in a while... but at least he does put down the seat most of the times for me now... may be you should start teaching your hubby to do that... good luck and take care...

I know that my dad usually pees sitting down, because it's something he's always bragged about, like it's special that he can pee sitting, because he's supposed to be standing or something =P My boyfriend is really good with keeping the seat down, I think it helps that we have a kitten, and I'm adamant that the toilet seat and cover are down so she can't get in and drink it/drown. =)
