How do you treat your dogs?

Do you treat your dogs simply as a pet or do you think of them as part of your family? How do you show your affection? How do you reprimand them if they did something bad?
I have a total of 8 dogs. 5 of them came from one of our older dogs. Just didn't have the heart to give them up. Their mom suffered a form of post natal depression. She had seizures and was had been 50-50 3 days before her scheduled birth and I think it affected her emotionally. She didn't feed her puppies right after giving birth. I was the one who hand fed them. I was practically their mother since I have to do things that their mother should have done with them. Thankfully, my efforts was successful. 0% mortality and 100% survival.
Taking care of them opened my eyes about motherhood and how hard it would be. Seeing now that they all survived and treat me as their own mother, made me love all my dogs so much. In our family its not only the 4 of us. Its the 4 of us and our 8 dogs. They are as much part of the family as we humans are.
Death is something we don't get handle well. If one of our dogs die, it is a depressing for the family. One of our beloved dogs died of cancer last 2005. A year after her death, we would still cry just hearing the song "Rainbow" (by a filipino band South Border). It was the song we last heard when we were forced to have her put to sleep because her cancer already spread to her brains. The songs chorus was like this "even if there is pain now, everything will be alright, for as long as the world still turns, there will be night and day, can you hear me?, there is a rainbow always after the rain."

well i definatly think of my 3 dogs as part of the family they are my babies!! but they do have rules like they are not aloud in the living room (its nice to have a dog free room) but my dogs are very well behaved i only have to raise my voice and point at them and they no they are in trouble! but they know they are loved and they get enough fuss for all the dogs in the world :)

I have 2 dogs and they are spoiled completely. We take them with us when we have to leave the house except on occasions when we can't but then they get a treat when we return. They get their "nummies" when they are VERY good as they are good all the time. They sleep with us, sit with us and in the summer.. swim with us. Yep.. they are as spoiled as we can get them.. they are the babies of the house.
