hello, i am not trying to make you sick here LOL, but since i love food and i am always intrigue by it (though i wont try it, haha) i guess that's why i enjoy watching anthony bourdain sometimes. anyway, to answer my own question the strangest food i have ever eaten is frog and horse meat. i was in elementary when i tasted the frog meat coz my classmate says it is really yummy and she ask me if i want to try. it is pretty good though but when i found out what the real thing is i am about to go somewhere, LOL regarding the horse meat, i was having my training when i am enjoying a meal with all the male staff at the hotel. this guy says that's the best meat he ever had and he is happy that he have it again. he said he wont tell me what it is till i give it a try, and having that tomboy image back then i grab the dare and have a bite. i dont agree it is a tasty one coz it is not tasty at all and it is more chewy than a beef jerky. to make it short, i end up going to bathroom anyway, how about you? i hope no one sees this as crazy and retarded one as i just want to know and see how others see a food. hope to hear from you then. takecare!

hello chelle! i applaud you for trying it out. i usually smell a food that i dont know before i eat it and if it dont pass it i will be a rude one coz i wont dare to touch it coz i feel i will be more rude if i end up throwing up right there and then. i love to explore food still but i have to smell it first or i have to close my eyes before i reach the table and i have to make sure the blind folds remain there till the meal is over i have never been in russia but i know my sister and her husband loves russian food as well as mongolian. i wish i know the name of the meal you mention so i can ask my sister if they ever had it, anyway, appreciate your time here. thank you! takecare!

Okay, ready for this? Jellyfish! Thats right, jellyfish! It didn't taste bad but the texture was not pleasant and I wouldn't touch it again... it was just too weird for me! But I am Canadian and jellyfish is not something that is eaten very often in North America.

hi mbs730...hi jairgirl... i think jelly fish/century eggs are both served as appetizers in most asian dishes... jellyfish is tasteless unless you dipped it in soysauce. ^_^

Well I've always liked to try new things, within reason of course, so over the years I've tried a variety of things. I love buffalo meat. That is very good in my opinion. I also love venison. I have tried some other things that are a bit stranger. I like Calamari, which is squid, when it is made right. It can be very good but if cooked wrong it's rubbery. I tried Sea Turtle when I was in the Cayman islands. It was ok but a bit stringy in my opinion. I tried snails and oysters, did not like either. Well oysters it seems I'm allergic to but the snails were just nasty. I tried them a few different times due to others insisting the ones I had previous must have been cooked wrong. Yuck and yuck again no matter how many times I tried. I also tried caviar once. The rich can have it. To me it was just gross. There is a restaurant near me that is supposed to have ostrich and I'd like to try that. See what it is live.

Well it helped I went on a few cruises. I could try things on there I might not otherwise and if I didn't like it I could get something else to eat. Not sure when I will be able to try the ostrich but hopefully soon. I've heard it's good as well. I also want to try alligator, which is sold a lot down here just haven't had the chance.

The 2 strangest things I've ever eaten were frogs legs and rattle snake. My mom took me to a fancy resturant when I was a kid, and I actually ordered the frogs legs. She didn't want me to do it, cause she didn't think I'd like them, but I ate every bit of them. They really do taste like chicken. Then, a few years later, a friend of my grandpa's stopped by with some weird white meat in a plastic bag and gave it to my grandma. She cooked it up and I ate some of it. It was kind of rubbery, but wasn't bad. She waited until I'd finished before she told me it was snake. I ate 3 more pieces. LOL I've also eaten squid, but a lot of people do that. It's not bad tasting, but I have a problem with the texture. It's hard to eat something that reminds you of an eraser.

Well, I lived in Louisiana several times so being a country girl by raising in Kansas, I was game to try different things so if the need ever arose I would at least be able to get by. I ate alligator meat which is really good. Also possum, racoon and squirrel. My favorite gumbo to this day is squirrel gumbo. You can have all the shrimp gumbo you want, I will take the squirrel.

hello nana1944, nice to see you here! oh wow, alligator? i have never heard someone dare to have it YET, i agree with you that it is best not to easily gross out by whatever food in case something happen and you can easily or at least get by. oh i love gumbo, i have never tried the one with the ones you mention but id rather have the shrimp and you have whatever left takecare!

hello jairgirl, as far as I remember, I guess the strangest food I have eaten is a meat of carabao, my classmate in Elementary also convinced us to try and eat it, and without any hesitation, I did and I didn't like it. I just end up trowing it and eat a lot of my food to get rid of the taste in my tongue!

Apparently, when I was little, I ate chicken feet soup. My step father, at the time, was part Chinese. He knew the language, and enjoyed taking me and my mother to China town on a semi regular basis (the one in Los Angeles, not the larger and more well-known version in San Francisco). He would typically order for us, after we told him what we wanted, at whatever restaurant we were eating at. Well, one evening, I saw someone with a bowl of this soup. I insisted that I wanted a bowl of that. I don't really know why. The waiter, Johnny (my step dad), and my mother all argued with me about why I really didn't want to try that soup. But, no matter what any of them said, I still insisted. Finally, my mom said, "Well then, bring her a bowl, and she'll probably change her mind once she sees all the chicken feet in it." To everyone's nearly disgusted amazement, I wasn't grossed out by the chicken feet, and proceeded to eat the entire bowl. I don't really remember that moment though, so I'm not sure that should fully count. Within memory, I think the strangest food I've ever eaten would be sour cream and onion chips with a small amount of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and a drizzle of mustard on them. That one usually trips people out, but I swear it was by choice, and actually my best friend and I continued to eat this as a snack for quite a while. She tried it after I told her that it really did taste good and she should give it a go. She, like myself, became hooked. I've also had goat meat tacos, which are really yummy by the way. Ethiopian food was an interesting experience, though a bit too bitterly spicy for my tastes. Still, not bad. And, of course, there are things I've eaten on a dare that would make most people lose their lunch. But, prior to having my kids, my stomach was made of solid iron! LOL. So, the "eat a sandwich with chocolate, mayonnaise, relish, caramel, cookie dough, mustard, lemon, and chili powder" were the easy dares for me.
