I really dont know. But its possible since it is written. But maybe it will be too long or too far to happen. Perhaps a 100 million years???
What do you think?

I grew up Christian so its not hard to get a little gloomy when thinking about a possible Apocalypse and all out world war where we all obliterate ourselves out of existence and especially when McCain praises John Hagee for his support for Israel and comments on how much he admires that. I do not classify myself as Christian since Im into Spirituality and trying to 'wake up', but as for some natural occurence happening to the earth--well its apart of Mother Earths long history and said to be natural for just this timing of the Earth history.

This is an interesting question and a difficult one to answer. I do not believe in doomsday in the biblical sense, but there are many options for the end to occur.
Our current technology is certainly causing havoc with the environment, and there is also the chance of a major collision with a comet or even a rogue planet that cannot be predicted. This would sufficient to extinguish human life on this planet, but life of some form should continue.
There is also the fact of the lifetime of the Sun to consider. because it is using mass to create heat and light and will eventually cease to be.

I agree, bro. And what with the ozone layer getting thinner by the day, and the extreme heat sometimes, and all too cold weather in some other countries. But I'm thankful for everyday still being able to live and see this world. For there's just so much that I've yet to do in this life. In short, I wouldn't want it to end soon.
The comet thing sure is something to think about. It's been shown in lots of movies. Thanks bro for your input on this. :)-

I always think positive and I believe in humanity.
We can keep it going. I know that NASA is looking for people to be send to Mars. One way trip. Many people will go.
World as we know it is going to be gone, but humanity will start life on far away planets including Moon, Mars and Venus.
We know a lot and we know nothing. For sure, planet Earth is changing and we are about to face food shortage and extreme weather changes.

Last winter was very cold in north part of USA including Chicago.
Global warming can lead to Ice Age....
So far, I have enough of cold, I am looking into sunshine and summer....

WOW!! I didn't know that. If there are really people to be sent to Mars, I would be very curious whether it is really possible or not. But for a fact, the Earth is facing lots of crisis nowadays and hot weather tops the list for now.
I pray that there will be some kind of nice, breezy and cool weather. Hopefully..

Doomsday sounds scary huh, That time will come but not in our days, it will take a while for the doomsday to come. I believe in doomsday because living in this world I can see how the world is changing. It change fast and it change badly, I mean if we don't stop the wrong thing we are doing right now I assure you that our beloved world life at stake.

Hi Zed-I don't beleive in 'doomsday' as such but I do beleive our planet is slowly dying and one day wether it be by natural or man made causes our planet will disappear-I also beleive that is another reason that the other planets are being looked at to see if they would be inhabitable for human beings-littleowl

Hi Zed-I think pollution can be conquered but there are so many other factors outside arth that could bring it to an end too-and man being one of them!-your friend littleowl

in the sense that i think an asteroid is going to hit us eventually,i do.by the time they get something up there to deflect it,it'll probably be too late.
but with all the stuff floating around in space,i can't see how we wouldn't get smacked by something sooner or later.

Someday it probably will happen but in our lifetime?? who knows. I am 51 and have been hearing about this my entire life. there have been so many wrong predictions and I'm sure they will continue on. Remember 2000? I don't believe there is any real way of knowing so I don't worry or think about it.

Hi there Zed. There have supposedly been at least 4 occassions when natural phenomena have caused the human race to almost become extinct and I beleive that the next one is supposed to be 'it'. I wouldn't be surprised if that were true. We are doing so much damage to this planet that it hurts me to see it. We are a horrid species that likes to create pain, demolish things, kill them, hunt them to extinction and have no compunction doing it. So yes, I believe that there will be a day when the world as we know it will end but I think there are other animals that will survive but not the human race. Be it something that we have created (like a plague) or a change in the environment. Who knows how far in the future that it will take place? Nostradamus supposedly knew.....

Sorry to make a bit of humor here, but the way you described it, we (humankind) are indeed like trolls, out to destroy this Earth. . Sorry, just couldn't help that reminder of the trolls.
On a serious note, I respect your views and I agree totally that a lot of damage has been done to this beautiful planet of ours. It seems like the Earth is crying for us to stop destroying it. Have a good day, sweetie and thanks again for your participation.

No worries with humour, I know it is a serious subject but one must always have room for humour, it is in our nature. You are doing really well Zed and I like your discussions. Thank you for starting this one and having the time to reply to the responses. That is good of you!

Hi Zed.
No, I don't believe in doomsday. I do believe that the world, as we know it, is going to end. I know it as judgement day.

I do believe in doomsday. I think it will come and earth will be shattered and new species will take charge. That's what happened with dinosuars. They used to rule the earth but suddenly something came and they became extinct. And I think one day or other we all be extinct.

Not in the biblical sense. I believe we are going to deplete our natural resources and we are going to go the way of the dinausars. I believe our planet will carry on long after life has disappeared from the face of the earth. Recycle!!

Doomsday? A day when everyone on earth will parish? No I don't believe in Doomsday.I think we are destroying the planet but we will die out one people at a time , not all at once. And if it is fair, the people who are of the earth and not just on it will be spared.

Well try not to get too freaked out because that which you fear is what will come to you.
I do believe in a new earth (all mankind will evolve) i just do not know how it will arrive. I think I read about a book called 'Blue Light' about a asteroid or virus (??) arriving on earth and afterwards a portion of all humans have heightened senses and abilities.

I do believe unfortunately that it will happen. this is not necessarily from a religious viewpoint, but I think based on how the world conducts itself, we are headed for disaster.
I think having a woman presidents or female world leaders would help.

zed_k4 hi. I remember back in 1974 when people greeted us when we left school one day. They handed out flyers to anyone they could push them onto. I was one of the meeker ones and ended up reading it.
They claimed the world would end in 1975 and they had irrefutable proof, naturally. I didn't believe it then and it seems their proof was flawed.
Today we read scary news about the state of our planet every time we turn around. I heard somewhere that in order to keep up the consumption rate of Americans, we would need five Earths'.
It does feel like the end is near sometimes. But we can be so easily distracted by the computer gadgets and television. If we think about the state of our world, we lose interest after awhile. We get tied up in trying to afford gas that is killing our planet.
We're all victims of our society. The advances we made are tearing the world to pieces. Without a global plan, we all feel helpless to some degree. What can one person do?
Will we be forced to pay the consequences of our actions but still be able to somehow save our planet? All evidence to the contrary. Some scientists say it's already too late.
We have no way to clean up our polluted water.
I'm so sad to be part of bringing this planet to its knees.
A friend of mine speculated that perhaps the human race was designed to destroy the planet for reasons unknown.
I can't say either way. It seems The Doomsday is lurking around the corner, but maybe some intelligent people can or have now a plan to save some of us?
And of course, the question we all ask_ What will be left for our children to use?
If the end of the world comes, I hope I'm having a really good time and I'm happy when the lights go out forever.
