It would really be very irritating if someone borrows something from you and doesn't return it. Of course, if there are valid reasons, that would be perfectly fine. In my case, so far, I have borrowed some books from a friend and I have never returned it. Or should I say, I have NOT YET returned. Well, I borrowed those books (novels) without knowing that she was bound to leave for Qatar. She's been there for over a year now and the books are still with me. She said I could have the books as she have read all those books anyway. Well, it seems that I do not have to give it back...

I had a friend who borrowed a movie that I had it was one of my favorite movies needless to say that was about 13 years ago I have never seen the movie since.
I have borrowed money from my mom and never returned it because when I go to pay her back she tell s me not to worry about it.
I always try to return anything that I borrow. It is only right to return it to the riteful owner.

Isn't it great that we can borrow money from our parents and at times, we need not pay them back?

I also got a book which I failed to returned to a friend when I was in College. I really forget that it's still with me until the time we moved to another apartment after graduation. I met her a year after and I mentioned it, she said, it's ok to keep it!

Sounds like not being able to return your friends books is unavoidable! I always return what I borrow, because I like to receive back what I lend! Besides, it's just the right thing to do! I have however returned library books late! But not real late..

Years ago, I was with a new friend and my kids while he visited some old friends. I was admiring her book collection and she pressed me to take some thing to read. I really didn't want to as I have plenty of books of my own but I especially didn't want to when she said "please take good care of it because my books are special to me". It was as if she had cursed me. For some strange reason my children (or one of them at least) stabbed the book all over with something fine and sharp. It was a real attack leaving shredded pages and deep gouges. To this day, I don't know which one did it, why they did it or what they used. I could get no answers from either of my kids. It was something very dangerous to be handling in that way.
Of course there was no way I could return the book but I didn't even know where she lived. I told my friend and he was calm and just said with one of his serene smiles..."Don't worry about it".

I always try to return the stuff that I have borrowed from my friends and colleague and I would like to tell them to remind me of that if I happen to forget about it because I do not want to forget what I have borrowed from them and want to return it to them within the time I promise. Thanks, dolce, for your discussion.

Yes. There are things that I have borrowed and was not able to return. I did not have intentions of keeping these things for myself. It just so happened that the owners are not around everytime I plan to return the things I have borrowed. There are even those who already left for another country and so I do not know how to give these things back to them. Of course I still intend to give back these things I have borrowed. There are also those that I wanted to give back but the owners gave it to me anyway.

Hi dolce_vita! I have returned anything that I have borrowed. Usually when I borrow something, I always tell them when I am suppose to return it and I do make it a point that I will return it on the date I promised or if I can't, I make sure that I will inform them when I could return it to them. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

Then let others read the book. Anyway the owner told you you dont have to return as she already read it. Sometimes it happened to me too that I was not able to return things that I borrowed, but as soon as I remember it and saw the person I borrowed it I just returned the thing. In some cases, there are things that was never returned to me by the borrower. I just dont care about it, but if it something very important to me, then I tried my best to ask for it.

Yes, I borrowed a jacket from a close friend of mine because I forgot to bring mine. I did not return it on purpose because there was a damage on one of the pockets of the jacket. I was too shy to return it. I was planning to replace it with a new one soon.

People always forget, I myself forget many things sometimes but it's when i remember that gets me. It's when i look for stuff that i can't seem to remember where i placed it just to be reminded that i lent it out or someone borrowed it. I'm sure that person too maybe forgot to return it then thats why it made me forget that he had it in the first place. In some cases this may apply , that the person u lent that stuff liked it so much that maybe he/she is to shy to ask it form you then decided not to return it anyway with how u lent it probably got the notion u didn't need it anymore that's how we are we pretend we don't need it as an act of good gesture, but It's not something to look back on .

Oh yes, I borrowed a DVD movie last month and never get the chance to return it to her yet since she was away from vacation. I have already sent her a text message and she told me that she would get it once she gets back here.
