Great discussion and thanks for supplying the link. I have sent a card and passed this to my friends and family. I have a sister in the AirForce and she is there again and I know they do appreciate getting cards and letters of support. Your actions here will put a smile on a soldiers face.

I sent a card Minnie. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to do so. I am so proud of and grateful for every man and woman overseas. I can only hope that my sons and daughter grow up to be the heros that they are.

Just before Thanksgiving, my favorite radio station did what they called "The Big Thank You" where they wanted to collect a letter for every single person in service. Not just those in Iraq but, every single service member throughout the world that wouldn't be home for the holidays. That amount was huge! Seriously...in the multiple hundreds of thousands. They had a short period of time with which to collect them and they did it. I think their request and collection time was 2 weeks because they then needed to sort each letter. They read each one to make sure that no one included political opinions or anything inappropriate. Then, they would seal them, stamp them and send them out. I sent a letter and, trust me when I say that I have strong opinions politically speaking but, I kept it in mind that my letter was going anywhere so, I have no idea who got my letter. But, I am really proud that I was one of hundreds of thousands of people who helped make a lonely service person's Thanksgiving a little brighter and maybe a little less lonely.
I'll pass this on!

Good for you that is great. I have donated odd ball stuff for the troops when they have a drive but I thought the card idea is great as it cost nothing to send a card. So no excuses for why you cant do that after all they have done for us.

I have just sent 3 cards, one for each member of my family, oops, I have got to go and send one more for my (new, haven't gotten used to her yet,) daughter-in-law.. I have also sent the link to everyone in my address book.. If everyone on Mylot would make this a special project, we could flood the mail boxes for our soldiers.. We owe them more than this little gesture. We owe them our thanks and our prayers.. We need to let them know that we stand behind them 100%.. Thanks for the address.. Good going..

I have done this in the past, but I read somewhere that if any card or letter was addressed to any soldier that it wouldn't be delivered. That the only way that they would be delivered if it was addressed to a specific person.
I think it is a very great idea if they are actually getting them.

Thanks and on that note I will let you know I have done this in the past. I will do it again. It is so true that it doesn't matter how we feel about the troops "being there" they need support BECAUSE they are there! I will now share with you a letter from the local girl scouts proving how thankful they are, for whatever they recieve. Typed word for word since I cannot copy and paste. Read on it's worth your time. A note from the soldiers who received our Girl Scout Cookies, for Cookies for Soldiers: Ladies,
We would like to express our most sincere thanks for all the support you have provided throughout our deployment. We are an 11-man embedded training team responsible for training and mentoring Afghan forces in Southern Afghanistan. We srved in the hottest part of the country last summer and were moved to the coldest part for winter.
Our soldiers were exhausted and morale was starting to slip, but the girl scout cookies arrived just after we returned to Kandahar. They brought with them a touch of home and reminded each of us, once again, that we are loved and supported in all our efforts here. The girl scouts had writen "Victory Starts Here" with an arrow pointing to the pull tab on some of the box tops... if they only knew how right they were! Please pass our thanks on to the wonderful girl scouts responsible for helpingwith the care packages. They really made us smile and helped us push on during the final weeks of our deployment. It is easy to feel we are fighting an "forgotten war" here in Afghanistan because the national media refuses to cover anything here unless there are casualties. However, you have reminded us that although America may not be getting information on what we are achieving here, there are still true patriots that hold our efforts in high esteem and keep us in their thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for all you do!
Sincerely,
The Men of Team Crazy Horse

I hope I typed it without any errors. God Blesses!
What struck me MOST was how Thankful they are in this letter when it is We who really should be MOST THANKFUL TO THEM.

That is a very touching letter thanks so much for sharing it. It is always great to hear what has been done to make the troops feel better. And I agree it is us who should be thankful for sure. But they were raised right so of course they are gonna be very thankful too.
