Here in the Philippines, when it comes to the month of May, people are looking forward to Fiesta's or some call it Festivals. It is the time of the year wherein folks in different provinces thanks their patron saints. One example is San Isidro labrador, patron saint of farmers. During this month also, there's the traditional Santacruzan, and Flores de Mayo, wherein beautiful girls parades with their beautiful gowns. I always look forward going to Pahiyas Festival in Lucban Quezon. I love seeing houses being decorated with samples of their harvests. There's a lot of festivals here in the Philippines. Would you share some festivals that you celebrate in your provinces or if you're not from the Philippines, share your festivals in your country. Everyone is welcome!!!

I was born and raised here in Manila so the only Fiesta we celebrate would be the Resurrection of Our Lord which is also known as "Salubong". Me and my fiancee have plans to travel sometime on the future and our main focus, for now, is Luzon. I'll research more on the different Fiestas here in Luzon first before we head off.

I agree with you, Lucban Quezon yearly featured in news when it comes to "PAHIYAS" festival. I am very familiar with this occasion since I've been taking my Bachelors Degree at Southern Luzon Polytechnic College in Lucban Quezon.
Not only during fiesta Lucban become popular, right now there is "KAMAY NI JESUS" located at the foot of the mountain and there are lots of people going back and forth there to pray and see ask for the blessings, it is really good because you need to climb hundreds of steps to get at the top, good for those high cholesterol LOL.
Try to visit Lucban, its really nice place.

Thanks for sharing. That sure really is fun. I hope I could go there to witness it. Have fun and Happy Fiesta. We will be celebrating too our fiesta here in Anuling, Mendez on May 15 in honor of San Isidro Labrador. I'm looking forward to the Karakol, where different groups performed a street dance.

Hi! I'm also from the Philippines and i enjoy fiesta's as well. I'm from Bohol and this province observes fiesta every single day of this month. When it's May, many people goes home to celebrate it. Most of the people there hold their reunions in time of this month as well. I'm a proud Boholana. It's just sad that I wasn't able to go home yesterday for the Tagbilaran Fiesta. I had work to do. But, I hope not to miss it the following year. I miss my family there.

My mother is from Aklan, so for one, it's Ati-atihan that we we love to enjoy and celebrate. I haven't been to any REAL Ati-atihan festival, but seen some here in Manila and on other places as well.
Ati-atihan became famous because of those people who paints themselves black, which they said was the color of Ati's or Aeta's. They were the first settlers on the island of Panay, as they were also the one's who fought against those Spanish colonizers during the early times, back when our country hasn't yet been named Philippines..

My parents are born and raised in BOhol Province, a place where during the month of MAY, every day a certain barangay or municipality celebrate their fiesta. When I was young, since we tranferred abode in BUkidnon we used to go there every summer and I really had so much fun, eating all kinds of delicious foods...
I used to join Flores de Mayo also when I was young, when I was in High School I am already the one teaching the children and I really had wonderful experience that time, we used to have retreats and recollections as well as outings so I get the chance to go to other places for free.
One memorable experience I had during the month of May was when my eldest daughter became the May Flower. I was really very excited to see my little girl with her very beautiful gown which I chose for her. The feeling that you had (in your own little way) helped the church with the money is also great!

Hello Dhangs, we don't have this kinda celebration here in the Netherlands like that big fiesta celebration in the month of May. What we have here is only an open market, which is really also nice 'coz it's in the open air and we don't have this so often...people can sell their stuffs on the street. It starts in the afternoon 'til in the evening then followed by a lovely concert as a closing ceremony. And apart from that, May is my birth month so we also have a kinda small celebration at home..:)..
I really miss the fiestas in Philippines. The Flores de Mayo and the Santacruzan. And of course, our town fiesta. The city where i was born and grew up. I hope I can be there to celebrate it with my friends and family.... and hopefully next year.

How I wish I could also join the celebration of Fiesta in provinces because compare here in the Philippines it is just look like ordinary celebration but of course there are times that there are people who are still celebrating it. I want to see the unique festivals.
