Are you a fan of pizza, can't get enough of it but worry about getting fat ?? A new study at Manchester University have calculated that a mix of Tomato paste & Olive oil, key pizza part's, offer's the same protection as a sunscreen with a spf of 1.3. The reason is Lycopene, the plant chemical that colour's tomatoe's.
Test's found volunteer's eating 5 tbl spoon's of tomato paste and 10g of olive oil a day had higher level's of procollagen, the molecule that keep's skin looking young and supple.
The mix also cut DNA damage to skin, another important factor in ageing.
Earlier studies have suggested a diet high in Lycopene can protect men from possible prostate cancer and there is evidence that it reduce's the risk of breast cancer.
Researcher's at Carolina University say it could havlve the risk of heart attack.
The Dough used for pizza base's contain's carb's known as resistant starch, which play a role in digestion and cut colon-cancer risk.
Other topping's such as Cheese are a source of calcium, which protect's against osteoporosis. Pineapple's is a good source of enzyme bromelain, which is essential for good deigestion. Jalapeno pepper's, capsacin drive's prostate cancer cell's to suicide. Mushroom's are in rich in pottasium which help's lower blood pressure and reduce's the risk of stroke's. Onion's help reduce artery damage and Garlic help's head off cardiac arrest.
Next time im stuffing my face with pizza I won't feel so bad anymore knowing that I may be helping my body and prolongimg my life, how about you ??

When I was growing up, I believed that pizza is the most perfect food that one can have. In combination, you get your carbs, protein and veggies in one dish. I still believe that is so.
A pizza is as good as its ingredients. Made with whole wheat flour, loaded with vegetables and sprinkled sparingly with cheese, then it can be a healthy treat. But the pizza that we usually eat is loaded with fat, gooey cheese, piled with fatty type or heavy in sodium meat like sausages, pepperoni, bacon, etc., turning the pizza into a heart attack waiting to happen.
So yes, eat your pizza, just make sure you have the good stuff on it and less of the bad stuff. Furthermore, don't forget to eat in moderation like a slice, not the whole box..

I know a bit of extra padding may not be very good for your artery's and you won't be able to fit in to your fave skirt/trouser's/dress but that can easily be lost with a brisk walk each day. Just thing, a nice pizza that help's your body, and then a good long walk the next day..... You will living till a 100 lol

I can agree with what you have said is good for you, like the Lycopene in tomatoes and The olive oil, Pineapple's is being good source of enzyme bromelain, JalapeƱo pepper's, capsacin, Mushroom's with potassium and the garlic and onions. but the pizzas dough are made with white flour that has has the nutrients removed then added back. The tomato sauce has had sugar added. Is the olive oil extra virgin? Is the pineapple fresh or frozen or canned with more sugar added? Only a home made pizza that you watch the ingredients is healthy in my opinion.
