I must say I am very guilty of driving over the speed livit most of the time. For some reason, I do have a heavey foot.I have only ever gotten 1 ticket in my 40 years of driving. I have been very lucky so far.I really hate driving 30 miles an hour when there are no house on a long streth of road, and no cars around.I just can not seem to do it.And on the interstate going the speed limit it seems you are at a stand still after awhile. Do you drive the speed limit all the time?

I use to find it impossible to drive the speed limit. I would speed everywhere I went. Of course, my OCD about being late might have contributed a little bit. Mostly I just liked to see how far I could push the limits. I did ok for a while and then I started getting tickets. Then of course the police and state troopers knew my car. I got so many tickets I had my license suspended twice within one year because I couldn't afford to pay. Right now I have so many points on my license that one more ticket will have my license pulled indefinitely. So I have to stay under the speed limit. I find it difficult and sometimes painful. I have to turn off the radio so I can concentrate and be aware of the spedometer. Because I'm the type of person that 80 mph feels so slow to me. But I have managed to evade the coppers for a while now so no more tickets.

It is especially hard when people start honking and riding my bumper. But I just tell myself it's not worth it. Like I said the cops know my car, and they will pull me over just for going 2 miles over the limit. It has happened before. I guess this is what happens when you grow up on a racetrack and were drag racing when you were 12.

I'm one of those that usually drives the speed limit. Though, since I got my new car, I may have been driving a little more. The speedometer's a little off on this car, but I try to keep it close to the speed limit. People where I live get real aggressive when I drive the speed limit. I live on a two lane street and cops periodically do speed checks. There are people going as high as 30 MPH over the speed limit there. So, when I drive down the street, I really make a lot of people angry. I think I'm the only one who drives at or near the speed limit.

I used to drive "with the flow" of traffic but I had some scary incidents with a couple of complete strangers almost attacking at a stoplight because they thought I drove too fast. I know they were just crazy people, and I never had a problem all those years I drove before, but I didn't want that to happen again. Now, it's just a habit. I live in a neighborhood full of psychos. If I didn't have a student loan to pay off, I would move to a nicer place.

I have a car but I don't know how to drive.. My husband mostly drives me to and from work. When I am late for work he needs to drive fast but sometimes when we are short of cash and running low on gas he does more free wheeling.

It depends, it seems I have a hard time going the speed limit when I'm driving the Mustang lol. However, I normally won't go but 10 over unless I know the area (translated, the state cops know the car) and there is not heavy traffic. I normally keep it around 5 over, unless in residential area.

I usually drive 5 miles over the speed limit (which the cops seem to allow). If I am running late, I may do a little more, but I keep a good look out for the police! I have gotten 2 tickets in 8 years of driving...

I've had two speeding tickets in my life that was a couple of years ago. And I can honestly say I deserved those tickets because I drove, like 30 miles over. Now I only go five oveR. I have a baby now, I dont have time to act stupid or put my baby in danger! Good topic dear!

I'd have to agree with you 100%. I especially hate pulling up to a red light in the middle of nowhere all quiet and attempting to resist the urge to tramp it to the floor. and its always the long open roads where you find yourself breaking the speed limit and assuming nobody will ever know becuase nobody is ever around. EXCEPT that one cop hiding behind the only damn wall for miles. UGH, hello speeding ticket (seriously I got one 2 weeks ago haha)

It depends on what i am driving at the time. In my old beater that I drive usually I drive about the speed limit. She is old and tired. When I drive my cab I drive over the speed limit but not fast enough to draw attention or get a ticket. When I drive the dog washing van I drive slow because it is old and heavy and takes awhile to get up to speed. So depending on which vehicle I drive is how fast and or aggresive I get.

I always drive the speed limit now. When I was a teenager I remember driving 80 miles an hour to get home on time when I think back to it now I think I was an idiot! I can't afford to pay a speeding ticket or have our insurance rates go up becasue of getting one so I stick to the speed limit sometimes maybe one or two miles over but they usually don't pull you over for that. I never drive on the interstate but most people do speed on it you need to go the flow of traffic to prevent an accident.

Oh, I always drive the speed limit, maybe five or so miles faster when there's light traffic. Except, before I sold my Camaro Z28, I was guilty of 85 miles an hour on the highway. One time I pushed it up to 120 mph on some empty back roads in NY. I figured if I got pulled over, I would hand the cop my license, and tell him 'Here, it was worth it.' I never got pulled over, but I was so scared, I never went that fast again. I don't speed now because I don't want to waste my money paying off a ticket!

Yes I am guilty of this as well. I do the same thing on a long strech of road and the speed limit is 25 or 30 or even 35 I catch myself going 45. On the highway I usually do about 70. If the traffic is heavy but a steady speed of 75-80 I am usually doing that speed as well. I've had my license for 6 years and haven't gotten a ticket yet. I too am very lucky!

I have my own code when it comes to speed limits. I religiously stick to them in residential areas, however it is a quite country road with noone around (and more importantly no speed cameras) then I put my foot down. I don't speed to a high degree, and with petrol costs so high I drive at speeds where my fuel consumption is most economic, this is 50-60 mph.

Well I dont drive presently. You are just one fortunate lady, to have gotten only one ticket in your forty years of driving. You have got to be an exceptionally cautious driver.Bless your heart the good angels must be watching over you!
