I know that there is a lot of health problems out there but diabetes seem a number 1 on the list. Are you diabetic and on pills or insulin or both?? I started on pills and after 10 years they have me on 2 types of insulin. I was scared of insulin at first but it ain't so bad.

Well, insulin is a good thing, but you also have to watch your diet very carefully. I have seen some people, my mother in law being just one, that was able to completely quit with the medicines by following a careful diet.

I wish I could follow a diet enough to make a diffrence. I am living proof that I love to eat.

I have type 2 diabetes and is on the pill call metaforman,i also uses a glucose meter. My problem came about because i love to eat and drink soda pops i use to drink them in place of water,my vision was blurred because of my glucose levels, but, since i've switch to diet soda my vision has cleared up considerably so it is mostly the diet that you eat.I was always under the impression that only type 1 diabetes uses the insulin.Must be a new more effected way of treating type 2 diabetes i guess.

Thanks for responding. Does metformin bother your stomach? If it does ask for metformin ER when you see your doctor. It don't cause upset stomach.

Insulin is all fine and good but when people use it so they do not have to follow a ADA diet it does more harm than good. Yes you can load up on junk, spike your blood sugar up to 2 or 300 take a shot to bring it down but by the time it is back under control it has already caused harm to your major body organs. Yes it may take longer to show up if you use insulin but it WILL show up. I was a nurse for 20 years and i can't tell you the limbs that i have seen amputeated, the kidney failures, and a whole host of other consequences that non-compliant diabetics go through. Diabetes is also in my family so not only have i seen non-compliant patients i have also watched my grandfather and my aunt go through agonizing deaths because they substituted pills and insulin for a good nutritional diabetic diet. But hey if thats what you want to look forward to,GO FOR IT!
