I had real trouble with this book, there was acres of hype about it and we all thought it was going to be something else, well maybe it was to other people ,but it took me ages to get thru the fist few pages and then I had lost the plot,so I went back over it again, but it still meant little to me,maybe the film was better than ther book.

Inever read the book - more than I was interested in as I don't read or participate in things that disparage Jesus. But my daughter is a CSI (crime scene investigator) and she likes to read crime stories to "learn stuff". She was in England and needed something ro read on the plane back and picked up the paper back book and paid $10 for it in England. She struggled with in on the plane too - apparently quite complicated to get the gist of. But once home, she picked it back up. THen there were even times when she couldn't get a portion and took it to her superiors for help in understanding the point or gist of it, and they couldn't help her!! THey all went and bought the book too to try to figure it out! But she finally got through it, and then set it aside for a month and started it again, and this time it made more sense and she "saw" things she had missed or not even noticed prior so she enjoyed it the second time through. She only read it for the crime investigation issues, cause I asked her her thoughts about the Jesus parts and she said she only "addressed those" as they pertained to the crime, she to, won't acknowledge disparage about Jesus.
I later sold the book on Ebay - for $25 - it was before the book was out in paper back here in USA. She was really glad about that - got her money back, and made $15! Great crime scene work!

I'm going to have to agree with your other responders. It's definitely fiction. Some parts and obviously setting are not fiction, the priory of sion is not fictitious, neither is the illuminarti (although I think that features in angels and demons more) The discussion about the artworks isn't fiction as such, but has probably read more into them than the original artist intended!

Fact or Fiction... i'd say using facts to create a great fiction. And it has started a great many novelist following the same recipe. A new genre perhaps where fact is woven into fiction to make it so plausible and credible.
I am currently reading The Alenxandria Link by Steve Berry. Just as fascinating!!!!

The story is fiction however I do believe that there are some truth about Mary and Jesus being married and that there are descents living on this earth today. The Catholic church has so much secrecy and they only want men being the spiritual leaders of the church that anything to do with a women being in power is hush hush.

Whether it's fact or fiction, I think it's an interesting book. Of course it's fiction since the main character itself is fictitious. It just became controversial because the catholic church reacted too much on it. Dan Brown is really good in arousing interests from the public as what he had done with this book. Isn't it funny how a lot of similar other novels begun popping out after this novel, even the movie National treasure had somewhat similar agenda, I consider them copycats so I never got to enjoy other historical/treasure hunting book.

FICTION obviously, but with the clever use of historical facts to tickle our imagination and test our fundamental belief. If you have not read or researched about original items mentioned in the Da Vinci Code, you'd surely be inclined to believe that Jesus got married.Jesus indeed became man but He certainly did not think and act like any man.He is supreme and way beyond man's comprehension and that's the REALITY. ;)

I believe its fiction mixed with facts and made a nice novel, though i dont believe all in it as true.

Definitly fiction but a gripping yarn for all that.
Could Jesus have married and had children?
Quite possible as he was a man after all and had the same desires as all men.

Total fiction - Dan Brown only states that it was a factual piece of work to get more publicity and to make more sales. it wasn't even an original piece of fiction as half the ideas had already been published as other works of fiction

Hy, Intresting topic, I think Its a fiction, This book was sold in more than 100 million exemplares I would write anything to sell my book, so fiction books are more intresting than real stories, There may be real things in the book too, but the biggest part is fiction after my oppinion. Happy reading, Greet.

An entertaining bit of light fiction based on historical speculation. Nothing more or less than that.

I think the book itself is fiction, but some components are real, like the Illuminati and the Priory. Both of those, as well are the lore connected to them are real(at least in my opinion), but the rest of the book, like with Sophie is fiction.

Definitely fiction!!!! It wouldn't be a novel if it were fact. However, controversy can sell books.
