IPCC Researchers Say Mother Nature Delays Global Warming

Some governments and people will keep pushing it. I don't see any yielding on this matter Destiny. And yes, I've seen points where the government and relevant individuals stand to gain from more regulation and laws. I'm for new technology, conservation and looking at & revising certain parts of living, but it should be done carefully. It shouldn't be overregulated and shouldn't be used to cripple the society itself.

The problem with human beings is that they have a tendency individually and collectively only to react to negative events when they are directly affected. There is a "it will never happen to me" syndrome". To combat global warming requires a change in human behaviour and technology on a grand scale. Long term planning and cooperation is required. So far there has been a lack of international will or sufficient political agreement to take action. The measures that have been taken so far have been very small. Extensive research has shown that Earth's climate has varied significantly over time, the causes of which are many and complex. Even over the span of human history, the Earth has undergone significant periods of warming and cooling. Present day global warming however, is not a consequence of natural climate variability or sun spot activity. Most scientists recognize that the present change to a warmer climate is a product of human impact on the Earth system. This can be traced back to the start of the Industrial Revolution in Europe. Evidence for global warming can be found in every part of the Earth system. Besides well documented changes in air temperature, global warming is heating the world's oceans, reducing sea ice extent, especially in the Arctic, melting glaciers causing sea level to rise, altering habitats and affecting plant and animal distributions. Perhaps the greatest evidence is the acceleration of melting glaciers in Alaska and Greenland. There are many sceptics - many from the 'big business' community - the oil industry for example - who will continue to provide funding for a "disinformation" campaign that threatens to cloud serious scientific debate and stall the economic and political decisions that must be taken. There will always be people who will deny overwhelming evidence even when it is placed right before their eyes. There will always be people who will try to spread false rumours and misinformation because they feel their comfortable lifestyles are threatened or that their shares in Exxon Oil will lose value. It is silly to refer to the international scientific community as "alarmists". The only alarming thing is that people continue to deny global warming despite the overwhelming evidence and fail to take preventive measures now.
