Since spring is officially here and summer is quickly coming, I love to ride around town just looking at all the yards and greenery. I saw some amazing yards yesterday. Very well maintained, with plants and bushes, maybe a few yard ornaments. There’s some really creative ppl around here too. At one house I saw a multi plant hanger (it sticks in the ground and you hang potted plants from it…it holds like 5 plants on it) that had different birdhouses rather than plants on it. Right near it was a birdbath so the birds could enjoy a little dip. At another house I saw several small signs stuck around like “free bunny food” by a small garden they had planted, “squirrel crossing”, “low fly zone” by the birdhouse. It was really cute. We live in apartments and we can’t put anything out…I do have a bird nest that a Sparrow built up in the corner of our porch. It was there when we moved in and I have fought to keep it there. I also throw bread out to the birds but that’s all I can do. At our old house, I had birdfeeders, birdhouses, a glass prism ornament, a rock garden and I was forever planting things in our yard. I wish we could do that here. Do you decorate your yard? What’s the funniest, oddest or most creative thing you’ve seen? Do you do your yard decorating yourself or is it a family project? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

At our old house, I had tons of bird feeders, lawn decorations around and big gardens. I sure miss them this time of year. I was planting and weeding spring summer and fall. I miss it like crazy, but since we're moving again this summer, I haven't even put plants in pots on the patio. I used to do almost all of it myself - not a family project anyone else was interested in - even though I tried. My husband was the lawn and fall leaf guy.

I added some old toys to the garden a few years ago! It was a little village, like the toys that Santa forgot! It was neat although it wsa in the backyard! Our front yard has roses and some other flowers blooming all year round! Here in California, everything tends to turn brown in the summer, as there is little to no rain until the winter!

You know I have a yard but no money to do anything with it, I wish I had money enough to do all the things I would like to do but what can I do, this is my life, and I have learned to accept it.

I'm horrible at growing anything. I'd love nothing more than to have a nice yard but I really don't have the talent to get too into it.

My Patio - ..and one of my dogs
I have just started to decorate my patio. I have bird feeders, hummingbird feeders and have just installed solar bird ornaments. They are so pretty at night. I am going to Lowes to day to get more plants.

I just started to love gardening a few years back but not much has been doe to the yards except for herbs and vegetables husband prefers BBQ and bonfire there, but it's not big enough for too many people so I always go against his idea and use it for herbs and vegetables

I wish I had someplace to have a bird feeder. When we rented a house I had a bird feeder and a bird bath in the back yard. I also had a nice garden which I loved working in. Here there is really no place to plant anything so much of what I have sits in pots. Our "backyard" such as it is is nothing but weeds. They barely mow it and it really isnot big enough for anything. I really miss watching the birds, hummingbirds, and the flowers. Maybe someday I will get lucky and find a house or duplex with a real yard and a garage instead of what we have now.

I can't do much here either as we're renting and there are no extra funds, but we had a bird feeder that we kept filled all winter and a shelf that held an ear of corn for the squirrels, and we spread seed/peanuts on the ground for them too. We've just put out a hummingbird feeder as we saw one a week or so ago. When I was in MN on the hobby farm, there was an old manure spreader on the back of the property that had basically been abandoned. We never tried to get it operational, rather just hauled our horse apples with the wheelbarrow. I've always loved seeing old wagons and farm equipment and such 'decorating' front yards when out on a drive, so I thought it would be neat to haul that old manure spreader out front and put flowers in it. My (ex)husband thought I was crazy but I really wanted it. He finally humored me and we filled it with dirt and manure (on a 100 degree day in July) and I transplanted a bunch of daylilies and wildflowers into it. Worked for me!

My husband maintains the grass and I do the flowers and yard decorating.. I have a couple of really big pieces of driftwood in one flower bed and a big rooster in another one.. I also have a few other yard decorations, but not too many.. I decorate with what I have and always try to divide and replant any of my plants so that I end up with more.. When we are coming home, we have to pass a house where an artist lives.. He has a huge sign out front stating, "Artist for Hire".. He has a Flying Saucer, a Giraffe, a complete set of the Flintstones, Christmas lights all over the yard and the house, year round, Frankenstein and a huge variety of other items.. He has the flying saucer all lit up and the way the light go in a spiral, it appears that the saucer if fixing to take off.. He had a yard sale there one time and we stopped, out of curiosity, just about 90% of his items were made of Styrofoam.. It really was amazing how realistic the items looked.. But my yard is much plainer than that.. Have a great day..

My yard has a lot of plants of many different kinds. Also 2 ponds, a fountain and small planters; however, planning to add new planters for my railing. There are birds including one that talks a lot. He really likes to whistle. I'm not sure why, but there is one male hummingbird, but he keeps trying to hit me. He thinks one of the ponds belongs to him. My husband and daughter deal with the lawn. I rarely mow the lawn, but pick up a lot of trash. The children at the high school just dump trash every day. I'm really glad when they are not attending school, as like the yard to look good.

I love looking at yards that have been well kept and have lots of different plants in them. Mine is pretty much "decorated" with rose bushes. I have them all around one side of my front yard, while on the other side is a large jasmine bush on the fence, and a couple of other flowering shrubs. I think the best yard decoration I have seen is just a few blocks from where I live. The person that owns the house took all of their empty ceramic planters, turned them upside down, and stacked them in such a way that it looked like a person standing against the house. And there are two smaller versions on either side of the big one. I would love to take a picture of it, but I never see the owner outside when I drive by.

I put a birdbath in the back surrounded with flagstones. It looks pretty cool. I have some birdfeeders. windchimes, and am going to put some mulch done. I like to decorate in the yard, but not when it's hot.

I am so lucky in that I live in El Dorado Gardens apartments as the place is indeed a garden with slopping grass lawns and trees,oh my the trees of all sorts, and flowering shrubs and oh my all the birds who live inour trees.its so lovely here and we all share this garden paradise. town houses, condos and triplexes. our apt is in the center of a triplex and we each have our own patio fenced in at our front doors.I am thinking of' hanging a hummingbird feeder in our patio as we have hummningbirds here and they are just beautiful. downtown here are a street with victorian houses and yards full of yard decorations and flowers, loads of flowers. it is Ca after all. we have one street that is planted with jacaranda trees who bloom in the spring with huge puffs of gorgeouspurple flowers so the whole tree is one big puff of purple. the whole street is just gorgeous and the blooms are sweetly scented. I have seen one yard with a collection of trolls, not like our nasty trolls, but cute little gremlin types and they are sort of attractive.
