Time flies when you're at Ikea

I went to Ikea this morning with my daughter and my mother. Do you all know what Ikea is? Well if you don't it is a home product store that sells furniture, home accents, kitchens, etc. The store is HUGE! We went into the store this morning at 9 a.m., had a bite to eat at the restaurant and then headed out into the store to shop. When we emerged it was 12:30 p.m.! I had no idea we had been in the store that long. It seems they designed the store specifically so when you go in the entrance you have a hard time finding the exit. They have these arrows on the floor that sort of guide you around the store, weaving through section after section of varying furniture, appliances and other miscellaneous items. Two floors of it! You could totally get lost in there. We came out with a cart full of things, even though we only went in for one specific item. Has any one else had this type of experience at Ikea or any other store? Have a good day!

I have heard a lot of great things about these stores but am still waiting for them to build one in my area.

You know what other part of the store I really like? The "As Is" section that is by the checkouts. You can get some really awesome deals in there on floor models. They may not be perfect but darn close to it and soooooo cheap!

oh yes... i can totally understand what you are saying... it is definitely a huge store and you can get lost in it very easily... also, the temptation there is so big... you almost want to grab everything because the price is so cheap... good on you for having a good time at ikea though... take care and have a nice day...

There are two Ikea stores in my country, Singapore, and I enjoy paying a visit to either of them every now and then. Like you have mentioned, they sell amazing and interesting things at reasonable prices and it is easy to lose yourself while shopping. Also, the restaurant serves amazing food, and I am a huge fan of their desserts and their Swedish meatballs! I never grow tired of shopping and eating at Ikea.

My daughter (who is three) is a huge fan of their Swedish meatballs. She gets the kids meal and it comes with french fries too, for about $1.99!

we always have that problem when we go there! we always plan to spend at least 2 hours or more there, although we really only want to spend about 1/2 an hour at the most. time just gets away from you when you are there.

It's funny, when I'm in the store I always look at all the other shoppers. A lot of them look tired and confused, like they have been aimlessly wandering around the store, just like me. Thanks for the post jellyjam74!

I love Ikea! I always spend so much time there because, as you said, they have it laid out so you have to walk through the whole store to get to the exit! But I don't really mind that aspect, I love to walk through and see all the different things and most of the stuff is very reasonably priced so you can pick a lot of stuff up without spending a fortune. I went recently to get things for my new room and I got heaps of stuff for just under £20, most of that stuff I just picked up because I went past it and just wanted to buy it because it was cheap. It's a really good ploy to make you buy things, really.

I have to agree, you can't beat their prices. You pick up a lot of stuff for not very much money. When ever I go there the parking lot is always full and you have to walk a mile to the entrance from your car. Thanks for posting!

haha :) Yeah, i like going to ikea.. There are just so many things inside to look at and buy.. Everything is quite cheap and i'm always so tempted to buy some things, but too bad, my house is too small and too late for any major changes.. haha.. BUt it's true that time flies when i'm in ikea too.. And the chicken wings from ikea is my favourite.. LOL

I went to Ikea for the first time this morning with my Mam as I was wanting to get a noticeboard for my boyfriend and there was one for £2.99 in Ikea, which I found on the internet. I found that fact that you have to go round the entire store to find what you want and then round the rest of the store to get the exit rather annoying as I only went in for one thing and only had the intent to get one thing, however I did get some noticeboard pins as well. I would have loved to have just nipped in the store, got what I wanted and left, but no I had to go through lots of other areas to get what I wanted.

The first time I stepped foot in an Ikea store was in San Diego. It was kind of overwhelming at first because there was just SO much to take in. I love all the display areas they have setup. Needless to say since my first introduction to Ikea I have spend many a dollar shopping there. The one thing I don't like is how difficult it is to get out of the store. Why do they make all their stores that way? What the heck....
