I feel over and grazed my knee - I now know why kids cry!

Well after I left a party Saturday night I was slighty tipsy but okay. I was walking home to my friends house with her and a few others and I tripped on my unsteady legs and landed on my knee. Ouch. I now know why kids cry when they graze their kness, it really stung, but I was brave I laughed rather than cried and so did everyone else. Have you ever fallen and hurt yourself but laughed instead to cover embarrassment? Ellie :D

Oh yes it can appear to happen in slow motion, when you know you are going to fall and there is nothing to do to stop it, it seems to take forever to land eh! I laughed too, I think it is the only thing to do sometimes eh! Ellie :D

At least you only grazed your knee, my daughter fell, like you she was tipsy at the time, and well, it's still swollen, bruised and she's going for an MRI tomorrow, seems she did more than just graze it. And yes I have fallen or tripped and laughed it off. I am now on medical leave because of a fall at work, I'm wildland firefighter, was putting out small areas that were still smoking, had a indian tank on my back (small water tank with nozzle, weighs around 45 lbs) and when I slipped, it shifted, and of course, I tried to catch myself, spraining my left wrist. Seeing that I am the only female on my crew, I picked myself up, reported the fall to my crew leader, taped it and went back to work.

Thank you. I think the hardest part of this is being on leave, I feel like I'm playing hookie, I would be okay with it if I was actually sick, but with my wrist in a splint, can do my job one handed, so I understand why they put me on live, it's just driving me crazy LOL

Oh I do hope your daughter is ok. I am lucky to have only grazed my knee as I had heels on too which I'm not used to walking in, I'm usually in work shoes most days. I hope your wrist is ok too and would also like to say I admire what you do. I have been caught in a house fire at a friends and it is scary. I have a great respect for firefighters, especially wildland as the wind direction is so changeable. Well done you. I hope you can get back to work soon. Ellie :D

OOOOUCH!!! Couldn't let the girl see you cry eh but its ok for mum to. I think I would have been screaming regardless of who was around. Quite a bit worse than a grazed knee though eh! Thanks for sharing. Ellie:D

To tell you the truth no I have not!! I do not know how seeing as when I used to go out I was always 3 sheets to the wind by the end of the night, but I have never fallen over drunk or sober. I am glad that you have had a good weekend though and enjoyed yourself at the party, even if you did fall over!! Hope you did not hurt yourself too much.

Thanks yes I had a lovely time and no it is just a graze really, probably because I was in heels and a bit tipsy whereas I'm usually in flat work shoes or boots. Ellie :D

I am always falling over or bumping into things and grazing my arms and elbows which ever part of me happens to hit the object first. I am blind in my left eye and I have absolutley no co-ordination not can I judge distance very well hence plenty of accidents. Yes it hurts a lot but im used to it after 24 years but I always have plenty of sympathy for my girls when they fall over!

I think by laughing it makes us feel better for having fallen. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

yep, been there, done that and got the scars to prove it. It does hurt when you grazed your knees like that. I also fell down the subway stairs once, right on my knees and had to have physical therapy.

OOOch I have fell up the stairs before but not down that must have been real scary for you. Grazed knees sting, a bit like paper cuts sometimes they hurt more than a cut as such. Hope your knees are ok now now. Thank you for sharing. Ellie :D

I might also yell out, and I have had people try to talk to me at the very moment that I hurt myself, then wonder why I was yelling my answer! lol

Oh yes I have. If it happens again I might just cry though as it hurts too darn much. I remember a cousin of mine who was walking towards the gate apparently feeling quite sexy. She was doing one of those mis prim walks whev her ankles got knotted together and down she went on her face. I was embarassed for her as my sisters began a whale of a laughter before she even landed. We went to her and helped her brush herself off but we really couldnt help but laughing. Sometimes laughing at yourself is the only thing one can do in such a situation. (lol)
