Hi
Please can you help it's bank holiday here in the Uk so no GP's open, i started with a cold on friday evening and now i've got really bad ear ache.
Can you suggest something i can use until tomorrow that will help the pain. I've tried paracetamol but they don't seem to be doing anything.
I look foward to hearing you replies.

The old "grandma's cure" for an ear ache/infction is echinacea with a drop of onion juice in the sore ear, covered with a piece of cotton. -I've used this and it works!

My two youngest children have had a cold and ear discharge this week. It is hard to get in to the doctor's up here at the best of time's so we left it and after a couple of day's it cleared up on its own. I would think it is something to do with the weather changing so frequently and you just have a cold in your ear.
Use warm cotton wool to clean the seaping then just put some dry cotton wool in after to keep it warm inside the ear.
Do you not have an out of hour's doctor service at the hospital that all none emergancy thing's can go to when the main doctor's are closed ??

I don't like to contact the out of hours doctor unless it really is serious.
I went to our pharmacy and they said it should go in a couple of days if not too go to the doctors as it might be an infection. I am prone to infections, just not had one for a while. They gave me some strong decongestant tablets and some strong pain killers. Thanks for your support, i think ear ache is one of the worse you can get, it's an awkward place to be able to use anything.
thanks again

We use an antihistamine sinus pill... Hun had earaches for years until I heard about this. He even had an eardrum rupture from the problems he had with his ears. Now we know what to do to stop them. A couple of drops of warm oil might also help.

i have been trying the sinus pill, but nothing is working, so it's off to the doctors for me today.
They are so blocked that i cannot hear anyone talking, what's worse i've got a job interview this afternoon, should be fun if i cannot hear them speaking.
Speak soon

I am doing well... the weather is good for me right now and I'm feeling the results of my vitamins and supplements... a little energy never hurts, and I have new hair coming in all over my head! I only come here for a while every day because I have a lot I want to do before it gets too hot... like 80 degrees... I'm such a wimp!
Hope this helps you... earaches are miserable. Hun was going so far as to need pain meds, then a neighbor mentioned that her husband suffered for years until his new doctor recommended the sinus pill... its so simple its scary, like most good remedies! Take care, my friend.
